After three memorable years living at Adelaide Cottage in Windsor, the Prince and Princess of Wales may soon be relocating to a larger residence to better accommodate their growing family. According to royal insiders, William and Catherine are exploring a move to the historic Fort Belvedere—a secluded, elegant estate once favored by King Edward VIII.
Sources say the current four-bedroom cottage, while charming and private, no longer meets the space and privacy needs of a family with three rapidly growing children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. With George nearing secondary school age and Charlotte developing a love for tennis, a more expansive home with amenities like a pool and tennis court may better suit their evolving lifestyle.
Fort Belvedere, tucked within Windsor Great Park, offers both space and security, making it a strong contender. However, alternative plans have also been considered, such as renovating a nearby annex on the Adelaide Cottage grounds, which is currently unused but could be restored.
The family also has other residences: Anmer Hall in Norfolk, used as a country retreat, and Tam-Na-Ghar in Scotland. But a shift to Fort Belvedere would signal a significant next chapter for the Wales family—especially amid Princess Catherine’s ongoing private battle with cancer, which has kept her out of the public eye.
While the move has yet to be confirmed, speculation continues to grow, viewed by many as a symbolic gesture from King Charles to his son—preparing William and his family for their central role in the future of the monarchy.
As Catherine continues to balance motherhood, personal health, and royal duty, her grace under pressure reinforces her place as a modern royal matriarch, guiding the monarchy with compassion, resilience, and quiet strength.
