TODAY Show meteorologist and co-host Dylan Dreyer is pulling back the curtain on her most memorable celebrity moments â and what itâs really like behind the scenes at one of Americaâs most-watched morning shows.
In an exclusive interview with The U.S. Sun at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, Dreyer opened up about the stars who surprised her most, the colleagues who make her shine, and the projects that continue to fuel her passion beyond television.
Dreyer, known for her warm personality and quick wit on Todayâs 3rd Hour, revealed that not every celebrity interaction goes as expected â especially when meeting idols. âThey always say donât meet your idols because you donât want to be disappointed,â she said. âBut when people come through the Today Show, you just want to let them know youâre a big fan.â
One of those moments came with Bryan Cranston, whom she described as âthe kindest, nicest person Iâve ever met.â Dreyer admitted she expected the Breaking Bad star to be reserved â but was shocked by his humility. âHe didnât come in with a big entourage. He just showed up, sat down, and talked. Heâs amazing,â she said.

Another unforgettable moment came when Tom Hanks visited the studio â and Dreyer, pregnant at the time, was visibly starstruck. âIâm the biggest Tom Hanks fan,â she confessed. âHe walked in, and I was so nervous.â But instead of brushing past her, Hanks noticed her baby bump and asked, âWhat are you having?â When she said âa boy,â he lifted his arms in celebration. âOur camera guy caught it â his arms in the air, mine on my belly â it was just me and Tom Hanks. It was incredible,â she said.
While celebrity encounters make for memorable days, Dreyer said her real joy comes from the Today family â especially co-hosts Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Hoda Kotb, and Sheinelle Jones. âChemistry happens when the person youâre with makes you shine,â she shared. âThatâs how it is with Al, Sheinelle, and Craig â we make each other shine.â
Still, Dreyer isnât slowing down outside the studio. Between reporting the weather and anchoring, sheâs also an author â working on her beloved childrenâs book series, Misty the Cloud. The next installment, coming February 20, continues to explore themes of curiosity and comfort for children who fear thunderstorms. âWhen you explain why things happen, it takes the fear out of it,â Dreyer said. âI love that I get to share that.â
And in her downtime? Golf. Competing in Orlandoâs celebrity tournament, Dreyer laughed about her progress: âLast year, I scored zero points. This year I scored five! Still last place â but better!â
From heartfelt celebrity encounters to heartfelt childrenâs books, Dylan Dreyer proves that her success isnât just about being on TV â itâs about being genuine, humble, and relentlessly joyful, both on and off camera.
