Jeanie Buss, the daughter of Jerry Buss, is the controlling owner and president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Her and comedian Jay Mohr reportedly started dating back in 2017 but didn’t make it public until 2021. They got engaged a year later in 2022, and then another year later, in 2023, the two got married in a private ceremony in Malibu. They have been married for almost two years, but one aspect of their relationship, according to most, is completely bizarre.

In an interview with In Depth with Graham Bensinger last year, Jeanie Buss and her husband Jay Mohr revealed that they live separately. She lives on the third floor of their building while Mohr lives on the ground floor. They like having their own space and living their own lives without imposing on the other but being able to connect with each other whenever they want to. Mohr said in the interview:

“We see each other every morning, every afternoon, and every night. When you’re home all alone in your bed, it’s like, guys are gross. Like we just make sounds. Like we sweat. The sheets get all wrinkly and weird. It’s like, oh let her sleep like a princess or a Barbie still in a box. She doesn’t need to be subjected to me in my wrestling sweatpants, just belching in my sleep.”
Buss, too, said that she prefers living like this and would recommend it to everyone who wants to try this style of living – people who value their personal space.

Jennie Buss is a supportive wife

Even though they live separately, Jennie Buss has been beside her husband, Jay Mohr through some tough times. When Mohr was suffering from substance abuse, she stuck to him and helped the comedian get clean. They started dating after Buss split with long time fiance Phil Jackson – a legend in the Lakers community, who served as the team’s head coach from 1999 to 2004 and then again from 2005 to 2011.

In an interview before Buss and Mohr got married, the comedian said that although they had been dating for almost 5 years then, he was absent for most of it because of his addiction.
“Yeah she was with me five years, I’ve been with her two. I was a drug addict, I was just out of my mind. I’m very lucky she was with me like at my absolute worst and like hung around and watched me get well. So it’s like, now it’s victory. Like that’s victory you know?”
The couple has been successful in maneuvering the ups and downs life throws at them and come out on top, no matter their unusual living conditions.
