The former England forward revealed he had been diagnosed with a basal cell carcinoma
Among them, former Liverpool players Fabio Aurelio, Luis Garcia and Mark Gonzalez posted, as well as British tennis star Neal Skupski.
Former goalkeeping coach John Achterberg also said: ‘Good all is ok mate’.
A basal cell carcinoma, the most common form of skin cancer, usually appears as small, slow-growing or scaly bump that can damage surrounding skin if not treated.

Fowler, one of the most prolific Premier League strikers of his generation, made over 250 appearances for Liverpool across two separate spells at the club.
Starting his career at the Merseyside club, despite growing up an Everton fan, Fowler spent eight years at Anfield between 1993 and 2001, chalking up 120 goals.
During that time, he was named PFA Young Player of the Year in both 1995 and 1996 – and is still one of only three players to have won the award in successive seasons, along with Ryan Giggs and Wayne Rooney.
Fowler then enjoyed spells at Leeds and Manchester City before returning to the Reds for one season in 2006-07.
Despite his glittering goal record in the Premier League, he only made 26 caps for England, scoring seven goals.
