Princess Eugenie’s pregnancy announcement “speaks volumes” about her standing within the Royal Family, a royal expert has claimed. Buckingham Palace said in a statement on Monday that Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, are “very pleased” about the news and that the King, who has been informed, is “delighted” for them.

The couple’s sons, August, five, and Ernest, two, are “very excited” to welcome a younger sister or brother to the family. The announcement was accompanied by a picture of the two siblings holding a baby scan of the latest future royal arrival.

Now a royal commentator has claimed that the announcement, which was made through Buckingham Palace rather than a private channel, speaks volumes about the Firm’s stance when it comes to Andrew Moutbatten-Windsor’s daughters.

Royal expert Afua Acheampong-Hagan told the Mirror: “I think it is interesting that, although there was a post on social media as well, the official announcement came from Buckingham Palace.

“I think this does mean she is clearly still in favour with the Royal Family.”

Ms Acheampong-Hagan suggested the King may have tried to send a “clear message” about how protective he is of his niece.
