his weekend, you might have seen that The Prince of Wales took his oldest son, Prince George to a homelessness charity, where they helped dish out a special Christmas lunch. It was a nostalgic outing, as Princess Diana had taken Prince William to the same organisation, The Passage, at a similar age. But, what you might not have seen from the visit, was the sentimental note left by Prince George.

Although revealed over the weekend, the day out actually took place last week on Tuesday (16 December). 12-year-old Prince George was taken to The Passage by his dad, Prince William, where he donned an apron with his name on it and helped prep Yorkshire puddings for a Christmas lunch. Just over 30 years ago, when Prince William was almost the same age (11 years old), he was taken to the same charity by his mother, the late Princess Diana.

Earlier this week, Prince George joined Prince William at the Passage Charity, serving Christmas lunch to 150 people!🎄 George is following in his father's and grandmother's footsteps 🥰

A nostalgic post on his official Instagram account showed the mother and son duo in the charity’s kitchens back in the 1990s, as well as a shot of the welcome book. Inside, Princess Diana has signed it ‘Diana’ while Prince William wrote ‘William’, alongside the date; ‘December 14th 1993’.

Fast forward 32 years to this weekend, and Prince George noted down his own name on the very same page, writing ‘George’ with the date in the same way as his dad and late grandmother. Members of the public who commented on the post, noted Prince George’s neat, joined up handwriting resting perfectly on the line.

Sharing a video with clips of their visit, Prince William said that he was, ‘Proud to join volunteers and staff at The Passage in preparing Christmas lunch – this year with another pair of helping hands!’

He also shouted out a special thanks to head chef Claudette and added, ‘a huge thank you to everyone for your incredible work throughout the year and for continuing to inspire a shared commitment to preventing and ending homelessness in the UK.’
