The Coronation Street legend, 68, shared the news in a candid Instagram post on Saturday — just hours after finally returning home.
Beverley revealed earlier this month that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after relocating to Dublin, where she recently landed a role in Irish soap Fair City.
In her new post, she revealed she was supposed to go home yesterday after her surgery on Friday, but had to stay due to complications following the operation
At the time, she reassured fans that the cancer had been caught early, but explained she would need to return to the UK for surgery and radiotherapy.
‘Minor Complications’ After Surgery
In her latest update, Beverley explained that she had been due to return home on Friday following surgery, but doctors decided to keep her in overnight due to minor complications.
The operation involved the removal of two lymph nodes, a standard procedure after a breast cancer diagn
Speaking openly to her followers, Beverley admitted the emotional toll of the experience.
“I’m home,” she said. “I was supposed to come home yesterday, but they decided to keep me in overnight. Minor complications.
“So I’ve been home for a couple of hours. I looked very pale — the nurses were calling me pale and passionate.”
Laughing softly, she added: “I don’t know about passionate, but I am very pale. I’m feeling OK. I had a bit of a cry, as you do, but I am okay.”
‘Emotions Are All Over the Place’
Beverley went on to thank the staff at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital, praising their care and compassion throughout her treatment.
“Emotions are all over the place,” she admitted. “Anyway, I won’t rant on about that. The staff at Norfolk and Norwich Hospital were truly amazing.”
She also shared a light-hearted moment from her stay, joking about a handmade pouch gifted by one of the nurses.
“And wait for this — who needs Louis Vuitton?” she said. “Josh, one of the nurses, his nan makes these to keep the drain bottle in. I won’t go any further than that… but it’s the handiest thing ever.”
She ended the update by promising to keep fans informed: “I will update you tomorrow.”
Keeping Fans Updated Every Step of the Way
Beverley has kept her followers closely updated throughout her cancer journey.
On Friday, ahead of surgery, she filmed a video from hospital, telling fans she felt ready and strong.
“It’s the big day,” she said. “I’m glad about that. I’m ready. I’m strong. I feel fine.”
She admitted to moments of vanity and anxiety — wondering what she would wear afterwards and whether she would feel “lopsided” — but stressed she felt supported by other women going through the same experience.
Earlier in the week, Beverley also explained why doctors had decided to remove two lymph nodes as a precaution, despite being confident the cancer had not spread.
“They are pretty sure it is not in the lymph nodes,” she said, “but they’re going to take two out to make sure.”
She described the operation as “quite a big one” but said she trusted the medical team completely, praising the NHS staff for their kindness and patience.
“The waiting is the worst bit,” she admitted. “The house is so clean because I can’t stop thinking.”
Despite the fear and uncertainty, Beverley struck a note of gratitude and resilience.
“I thank my lucky stars,” she said. “The world is full of really strong women.”
