Piers Morgan made a shock return to ITV’s Good Morning Britain this morning, but couldn’t resist making a dig at Alex Beresford – who played a role in Pier’s original exit in 2021

Piers Morgan returned to Good Morning Britain this morning, years after his shock exit from the ITV show – but he couldn’t help but make a dig at weather presenter Alex Beresford.

The former GMB presenter appeared in the studio to talk about UK prime minister Keir Starmer’s recent visit to the US with hosts Susanna Reid and Ed Balls, however as the segment came to an end, he made a sly dig at former colleague Alex Beresford.

Spotting Lorraine Kelly in the studio ahead of her show at 9am, Piers said: “Lorraine is over there – hello!” To which Lorraine responded: “Isn’t it good to have him in here?”

Referring to former co-presenter Susanna Reid, Piers said: “She couldn’t bring herself to say it. All we need is Alex Beresford and we’ve got the whole family back together.”

Susanna, Ed and Lorraine were left in awkward giggles at his comment, with Ed saying “He did not!”

Piers dramatically left the ITV breakfast show back in 2021 after receiving 41,000 Ofcom complaints over his comments about Meghan Markle. Speaking about the Duchess of Sussex’s recent Oprah Winfrey interview in which she opened up about her mental health struggles, Piers said that he “didn’t believe a word” of her admission.

Piers was confronted by weather presenter Alex over his comments the following day, with Piers storming off set after their heated conversation. He announced his sudden exit from GMB shortly after.

During Piers’ appearance on the show, the Uncensored host and his former co-presenter Susanna took a number of pops at one another.

During his introduction on the show, he said: “Hang on, are we just going to ignore the fact that I haven’t been here in 1,453 days?” He then playfully asked for a hug from Susanna, who sharply replied: “No, what? No, no I don’t want a hug.”

Piers then made a dig about being replaced by Ed Balls, saying: “You’ve moved on so fast!” To which Susanna agreed, jesting back: “I’ve got a couple of new husbands now.”

When telling Ed Balls how his suit and tie outfit would be too formal for the YouTube world he’s now in, Piers quipped that he’ll do whatever Susanna wants him to do.

“It’s bad for her brand if you take the tie off, isn’t it?” he said, to which Susanna said: “It’s got nothing to do with him.”
