Hawthorn forward Dylan Moore was allegedly found with a bag of a “crystalline substance” and a rolled up $100 dollar bill on the night of his arrest in the United States last year, Arizona police documents claim.
Newly released documents from the Scottsdale Police Department have provided more detail on the incident leading up to Moore and teammate Connor Macdonald spending a night in an Arizona jail in November.
The pair were charged with alleged trespassing and will face a US court later this year, while a drug paraphernalia charge against Moore was dismissed.
Moore lost his title as vice-captain after the incident, which occurred while Hawthorn players were away from the club during a pre-season training period.

Scottsdale Police Department officers alleged the two players were found standing on a scissor lift nearly 2.5 metres off the ground at 10:47pm on November 8, with another group of males on the ground “cheering them on filming them, sending cheers of encouragement”.
An officer said he told the men to get off the platform several times as “they were standing on property that was not theirs”, according to the police report.
“The males then told me they didn’t know how to get down so I told them they could get down the same way that they got up there,” the officer wrote.
Police said both Moore and Macdonald climbed down from the scissor lift and were placed in handcuffs, when they were told they were both under arrest for trespassing.
Before they were transported to jail, the officer said he asked Moore if he had “contraband” on his body, such as drugs, paraphernalia or weapons, and claimed the former vice-captain said no.
The officer said he began searching Moore when a “small plastic baggie with a small amount of a crystalline substance” allegedly fell out of his pocket.
“I picked it up and asked what that was and Dylan immediately responded that [it] wasn’t his,” the officer alleged.
“I then searched his pocket again [and] located a rolled up $100 bill with a crystalline residue inside of it as well.”
Hawthorn duo spend night in jail
The men were taken to Scottsdale City Jail, where they spent the night before being released on bail.
They were charged with third-degree criminal trespass, with a presumed fine of US$250 (AU$350).
Moore was charged with drug paraphernalia but court documents state this charge was dropped at the request of the Scottsdale City Attorney.
Asked to give more information about the drug charge in a Channel Seven interview aired on Tuesday, Moore refused and said the charge had been dismissed.
He told Channel Seven the incident was something he would always regret.
“I was vice-captain at the time and I should recognise situations like that and know the consequences and the risks,” the 26-year-old said.
“Having Connor there with me, I should, as an older player and vice-captain at the time, have known better.
“I feel like I’ve let the leaders down and Connor down.”

The pair were fined by Hawthorn, have undergone alcohol counselling and will complete community service, but are not facing further sanctions from the AFL.
Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell said on Wednesday he was disappointed when he heard about the incident.
“It was a few months ago now, and they have done every single thing you would expect of them since then,” he said.
Moore and Macdonald featured in Hawthorn’s opening round defeat to GWS and are set to play Essendon at the MCG on Friday night.
Moore’s US court date is scheduled for July, while Macdonald’s is in August.
Hawthorn Football Club has been contacted for comment.
