Julio Urías, el beisbolista originario de Culiacán, Sinaloa, quien hasta septiembre de 2023 tenía un prometedor futuro en las Grandes Ligas, se encontró en una situación que ni en sus peores pesadillas habría imaginado.
Después de ser arrestado y liberado bajo fianza en septiembre de 2023, el pitcher recibió una sentencia de 36 meses de libertad condicional, una multa económica y un curso de manejo de la ira. Desde entonces, ha permanecido fuera del ojo público.

En el momento de las acusaciones, Julio Urías llevaba una marca de 11 victorias y 8 derrotas, con una efectividad de 4.60 en carreras limpias. Su contrato de 14.25 millones de dólares estaba por concluir, colocándolo como un valioso prospecto en la agencia libre.
Ante su récord, los Dodgers estaban considerando ofrecerle un contrato superior a 200 millones de dólares, que habría asegurado su futuro en el beisbol profesional. Urías había sido clave en la victoria de los Dodgers en la Serie Mundial de 2020 y lideró la Liga Nacional en 2021 con 20 victorias y solo tres derrotas.
SEGUNDA DETENCIÓN Y SUS CONSECUENCIAS
Julio Urías ya había enfrentado un arresto en 2019 por violencia doméstica, del cual MLB le impuso una suspensión de 19 juegos. Sin embargo, el arresto en septiembre de 2023 marcó un giro negativo en su carrera. Aunque el fiscal de Los Ángeles desestimó el caso grave, el juez le impuso una sentencia de 36 meses en libertad condicional y 52 semanas en un programa de prevención de violencia doméstica.
¿CUÁNTO TIEMPO LLEVA JULIO URÍAS SIN JUGAR?
Julio Urías lleva diez meses sin participar en partidos de beisbol. Actualmente, el pitcher espera el veredicto de las Grandes Ligas. Se dice que varios equipos están interesados en sus servicios, pero no pueden actuar hasta recibir una decisión definitiva del comisionado Rob Manfred.
En México, también se ha especulado sobre una posible incorporación de Urías a los Diablos Rojos del México, pero al igual que en las Grandes Ligas, están a la espera de un veredicto final.
