Prince Harry has often described his school years as challenging at Eton College, whereas in contrast, his older brother, Prince William, reportedly thrived during his time at the prestigious boarding school. Harry has also admitted he never felt entirely comfortable at Eton.

In an interview with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, in 2023, Harry recalled a heartbreaking moment when he started school. When he first arrived at Eton, he was told by William to act as if they didn’t know each other. Harry said: “At the time, it hurt.”

He added: “I couldn’t make sense of it. I was like, ‘What do you mean? We’re now at the same school.’” Harry explained he took the decision personally. He also acknowledged that such behaviour is often typical of older siblings trying to find their own way.

In his memoir Spare, which was released in 2023, Harry explained how he found it hard to settle into one sporting group at school.

The royal penned: “Sport, I decided, would be my thing at Eton.” He wrote about the social structure among sporty students, with ‘dry bobs’ playing land-based sports like rugby and football, while ‘wet bobs’ focused on rowing or swimming.

Harry continued: “I was a dry who occasionally got wet. I played every dry sport, though rugby captured my heart.”

Prince William and Princess Kate were previously seen visiting the school with Prince George in 2023, fuelling speculation he may follow in William’s footsteps. It is also a short drive from the family’s Windsor home.

Despite Harry and Meghan Markle quitting royal duties in 2020 for a new life in America with their two children, Harry has expressed a desire for his children to get to know his home country.

This has led to a number of rumours this week, with one source claiming that Harry has registered his son, Prince Archie, six, to go to Eton College in the future.

Speaking to The Royalist, Harry’s friend previously said: “It’s no longer strictly necessary to put your kids’ names down at birth, but Harry has put Archie down. It’s fair to say he had mixed feelings about the school when he left, but looking back on it, he can appreciate the good.”

However, a spokesman for Prince Harry has now set the record straight, revealing that this is not the case. The spokesman told the Express: “I can confirm that Prince Harry has not registered Archie for Eton and the Duke has no plans to send his son to Eton.”
