Celebrity Big Brother fans have been left stunned after discovering Jack P Shepherd’s win has broken a historic ITV tradition.
On Friday night, the Coronation Street actor, 37, emerged triumphant after receiving the most votes, beating Chris Hughes, Chesney Hawkes, Donna Preston, JoJo Siwa and Drag Race icon Danny Beard.
He follows in the footsteps of last year’s winner David Potts, the first since ITV revived the celebrity and civilian editions of the beloved reality programme.
After winning, he told hosts AJ Odudu and Will Best: ‘I can’t believe it, I am blown away, I didn’t expect it tonight.
‘I mean, what is there? Six in the final? I thought I was a shoe-in for maybe fifth, honestly, and then as people were just disappearing, I thought, surely not.’
He added: ‘I’ve had the best time every single day. I’ve made friends that I know I’m going to have for life.

‘And I love this show, so I’ll not sleeping tonight guys, I’m going home, and I’m going to stream every single episode.
‘I had the best time, honestly, the best time, and to do the whole thing as me, not with the tape, not with the wigs, the love is, honestly, it’s so emotional.’
The David Platt actor, who has caused trouble on the cobbles since 2000, appeared to defy odds leading up to his win, which had predicted Danny would be crowned champion.
And he’s now broken a historic ITV tradition, leaving some fans gutted.

Celebrity Big Brother originally ran on Channel 4 then Channel 5, before moving to ITV for the revival.
Since the civilian edition returned, Jordan Sangha and Ali Bromley have been crowned winners, with David taking the title for the 2024 celebrity series.
With Jack’s win, he’s now become the first of those four to not be an LGBTQ+ winner, and some fans aren’t happy about it.
@Omages887 wrote on X: ‘Jack winning has enraged me, how did this happen when he done nothing but to be boring. The LGBTQ winners pattern is broken.’

@flowersswiftx tweeted: ‘we’ve lost our reign of queer winners’.
‘Well the #cbbuk my voted winner and lgbt winner streak has been broken on ITV. 3/4 ain’t bad technically. There’s still the civilian series to keep that streak going though,’ wrote @redtearsflow.
‘Jack winning is an all time low for the UK,’ Michael meanwhile fumed.
Dailiah added: ‘Jack sulked around the house. Did nothing. Said nothing. Gave nothing. Absolutely ZERO value to the show… Yet he’s won.’

Others defended Jack’s win, with Ann saying: ‘Jack won for being himself. Everyone else had an agenda. It’s meant to be a social experiment, not a showcase.’
Amy added: ‘ah I’m glad Jack won #CBB. he’s such a nice guy. met him about a decade ago outside #Corrie gates and he stopped and chatted for ages. he’s hilarious as well as humble and down to earth. def a worthy winner right there.’
Philip laughed: ‘Jack drinking tea all season and wins the whole thing. Legendary.’
Following Jack’s win, it was revealed he won the series with a 37% of the vote, a very close final as Danny secured a strong 35%.
