Meghan Slammed After Leaving Doria Ragland Out of Mother’s Day Tribute: ‘Silence Speaks Volumes’
Meghan Markle’s Mother’s Day silence is being dissected by royal watchers following her latest brand expansion.

There is a popular saying, ‘damned if you do, damned if you don’t,’ and Meghan Markle is soon becoming the poster face for it. The digital age is fast intersecting with the real world and in many ways overshadowing actual interactions, to the extent that ‘if it’s not online, it didn’t happen’. The same belief has social media users not only slamming the Duchess for not posting a wish for her mother, Doria Ragland, for Mother’s Day, but also speculating about a possible rift between the mother-daughter duo.

Whatever the Duchess does usually attracts intense scrutiny, often for all the wrong reasons. This was the case recently when she failed to publicly wish her mother a Happy Mother’s Day. Netizens, however, were in no mood to let the oversight slide. “Zero Mother’s Day shout-out from Meghan to Doria on IG. The silence speaks volumes. Things between them must be colder than ice. Meghan has isolated every single member of her family. She’s such (a) caring, nurturing sow,” One user sneered on X.

Last year, Markle shared a sweet Instagram snap with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on Instagram, carefully concealing their faces. While this has become her signature move, it continues to attract flak from critics. Adding more to it, another user suggested that her current silence might be a calculated PR tactic, noting, “Not even a shout out to her own mother, and of course, she doesn’t allow Harry to use the Instagram account since that’s her territory, so I doubt you’ll see him or the kids wishing her a Happy Mother’s Day. Or, she could be purposely not saying anything today, but will drop something tomorrow, like “oh look what Harry and the kids gave me for Mother’s Day! I just love them so much!” Just so it will dominate the headlines, and of course, she’ll be showing a glimpse of the kids’ heads.” ‘

While Ragland was absent from the Duchess’s social media feed, her children were front and center in her business ventures. On Mother’s Day this year, Markle launched two new products as a tribute to her children, through her lifestyle brand, As Ever. The former Suits star released two $64 ‘Signature’ scented candles named after their birthdays. While the candle inspired by Archie had ginger as a subtle nod to his hair, the candle inspired by Lilibet featured water lilies, an ode to her name.
However, even her entrepreneurial efforts were met with a backlash. Taking a sharp dig at the launch, another netizen commented, “To celebrate Mother’s Day, Meghan Markle is experimenting with a new product for As Ever that was so important in Doria Ragland’s life.” While a fourth, taking a jibe at the Duchess, wrote, “Does anyone else get nervous when Meghan Markle is eerily quiet on a holiday she can use to get attention?”
