A heartbreaking new statement has been released after a 24-year-old soldier tragically d!ed following a fall from her horse during the prestigious Royal Windsor Horse Show attended by King Charles III.

Lance Bombardier Ciara Sullivan, a member of the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery, suffered fatal injuries after falling while exiting the arena during a ceremonial display at the event in Windsor.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene shortly after the incident unfolded, but despite immediate medical attention, Sullivan sadly d!ed at the scene. Thames Valley Police later confirmed the tragedy is currently being treated as “unexplained but not suspicious.”

The devastating incident reportedly left spectators stunned, especially as members of the Royal Family, including King Charles, were attending the show at the time. Buckingham Palace later revealed the King was “greatly shocked and saddened” after learning the full severity of what had happened.

In emotional tributes released following her d3ath, Sullivan’s commanding officers described her as an “exceptional soldier,” a fearless horsewoman, and a bright light within the regiment. Friends affectionately called her “Sully,” remembering her infectious energy, professionalism, and deep passion for military riding.

Her grieving mother later shared that Ciara “died doing what she loved,” as tributes poured in across social media from fellow soldiers, equestrian communities, and devastated friends.

Sullivan joined the British Army in 2020 before becoming part of the prestigious King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery in 2021. During her service, she participated in major ceremonial events, including royal gun salutes and the state funeral procession for Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

Following the tragedy, organisers confirmed the King’s Troop performance segment was removed from the remainder of the Royal Windsor Horse Show schedule as a mark of respect.

Police and military investigators continue working to understand exactly what caused the fatal fall, while authorities have appealed for witnesses or video footage from anyone who may have seen the incident unfold.

For many across Britain, the heartbreaking loss has cast a shadow over one of the country’s most historic royal events — and left an entire military community mourning a young soldier remembered not only for her talent, but for the warmth and positivity she brought to everyone around her.
