Peter Andre has addressed the public scrutiny over his “nice guy” persona as his bitter feud with ex-wife Katie Price continues to escalate.
The 52-year-old singer, who shares two children with Katie, told The Telegraph: “Well, look, nobody’s perfect. Everyone makes mistakes. But you get the measure of me by meeting me. You’ll either think I’m too talkative and annoying, or you’ll think, ‘he’s alright, he’s harmless’. But over time, you build a picture of someone, it’s about consistency. Don’t listen to what she (Katie Price) says about me”.
Katie, 47, appeared to aim a direct swipe at her ex when she wrote on Instagram: “Some Saints are not who they would have you believe they are. They have a carefully managed image which must be exhausting to maintain.”
The drama reignited after Katie revealed she had been “banned” from appearing on ITV2’s The Princess Diaries, a show led by their daughter Princess. On her podcast, she fumed: “Princess was like ‘I’m having a party’. And I wasn’t invited because it was for filming.”
Peter later issued a rare statement on Instagram, declaring: “For sixteen years, I have stayed silent in the face of repeated lies from my ex-wife and her family, but staying silent has been incredibly frustrating. That ends today.” He went on to reveal that Princess and Junior came into his care in 2018 for “well-documented reasons” and that in 2019, the family courts issued a legally binding order confirming the arrangement.
He also recalled how Katie had been ordered to pay damages and apologise in earlier court cases in 2011 and 2015, after judges found she had made false claims against him.
In response, Katie admitted to her struggles with drugs, alcohol and mental health, writing: “I know I will always be a Sinner. At times I was not the mother I should have been… but I’ve pulled myself out of suicidal spirals because I love my children.” She went on to warn that “some Saints are fake… they play the victim and need a villain. Without the Sinner, they don’t get to be the Saint.”
Peter has since remarried doctor Emily MacDonagh, with whom he shares three young children. Katie, meanwhile, has three other children from different relationships and is currently dating Married At First Sight UK star JJ Slater.
