King Charles was clearly thinking of his granddaughter this week while he was away in Northern Ireland. The monarch and his wife Queen Camilla spent time in Belfast as part of their trip, and visited W5 LIFE at Odyssey Place – a digital learning centre.

At the centre, His Majesty met young entrepreneurs backed by the King’s Trust, formerly known as The Prince’s Trust. One of the business owners he met was Rachel Rose, founder of jewellery enterprise Empower Flower. As well as having a pleasant chat together, Rachel gave the King a present to take home for Princess Charlotte, his granddaughter.

This gift was a handcrafted beaded bag charm.

The King looked delighted to be handed the gift to give to Charlotte, 11, and could be heard saying: “Thank you, she will love that.”

It is likely the young princess will love the gift, as she is believed to be fond for handmade items such as bracelets, which she has made for her family members before.

This includes her father Prince William, who was once spotted on a royal tour wearing a friendship bracelet with the words Papa.

The King also wears some form of threaded bracelet, however it is not known whether this is a gift from Charlotte. It is possible it could be, with the monarch and his granddaughter having a special bond.

Royal biographer Robert Jobson told Hello! earlier this month that Charlotte “enjoys a close relationship” with the King.

He said: “He totally adores her. She loves it when he reads to her in his funny voices.”

It is not known if he has yet given the gift to Charlotte, which she will no doubt appreciate.
