Liam Payne was attempting to escape his hotel room when he tragically fell to his death, with reports suggesting he had “hated” being there.
The former One Direction star, who was recently laid to rest at a funeral, died in October after falling from a third-floor balcony at the hotel he had been staying at in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Reports suggest the 31-year-old had a history of hating being locked up in hotel rooms.

It’s believed employees at the Casa Sur Hotel knew Liam was threatening to use the balcony to escape, but left him unattended. The singer had even previously used a balcony to escape.
Liam used the balcony escape plan in mid-September, according to reports. At the time, his bodyguard was concerned he might have been on a drug binge and “forced him inside a room in a Florida rental house.”

A source told TMZ, “Liam escaped from a balcony, using a garden hose to reach the ground.” The news comes after the investigation into Liam’s death has been given a major update.
Investigators had been searching for the singer’s missing Rolex watch, believed to be worth $38,000, which he was seen wearing on the day he died. The watch reportedly vanished after an escort Liam spent time with before his death went back up to his hotel room.
Respected Argentinian news website Infobae said the woman claimed to have forgotten her makeup and was allowed back into the third-floor room to get it. Citing sources close to the ongoing criminal investigation, the website said, “There Payne’s Rolex watch disappeared.”

It’s claimed the woman – along with another female escort- had been promised $6,300 by Liam, but they didn’t get all of their money. According to Infobae, the two escorts later told prosecutors Liam had kneeled in front of them and professed his love for them.
He’s even said to have “promised” to give them his gold watch. However, Liam reportedly failed to hand over more cash in the room, or later in the lobby.
A detective involved in the case previously spoke about Liam’s missing watch. They said, “We know, from images that were analyzed, that Payne was wearing a Rolex on the day of his death. He was wearing it on one of his hands and he had it for at least two to three hours before he (died).”
Police have since searched Liam’s hotel room and the homes of several people known to have associated with Liam that day, but are yet to find the Rolex. The two escorts are being treated as witnesses, rather than suspects in the case.
