“What’s Coming in Season 2 of ‘Nobody Wants This’? Jackie Tohn Reveals All!”

Everybody wants more Nobody Wants This.

It’s why the Netflix hit—starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody as star-crossed lovers Joanne and Noah—received almost an immediate green light to begin work on a season two. And while many of the details of Erin Foster’s series are still under wraps, actress Jackie Tohn, who plays Noah’s tough but lovable sister-in-law Esther, shared just a hint of what fans can expect.

“Because it’s a season two, of course we’re going to go deeper into all the characters’ storylines,” she told E! News at Elle’s Women in Hollywood event Nov. 19. “Especially with Netflix and a half-hour show—you have so much information to get out, and I think our show did that masterfully. It didn’t feel like we were just laying groundwork, there was real stories there. And I think for season two, we’re just gonna go deeper on everybody.”

And on any possible timelines, she teased, “We’re starting in February and the writers’ room is already up and running. And it’s happening!” (For more from Elle’s event, tune into E! News tonight, Nov. 20 at 11 p.m.)

The 44-year-old also reflected on the show’s positive reception, and how meaningful it’s been.

“It’s crazy, man,” Jackie added. “You make a show like this, and you can never expect that it would be—you just don’t know. You make things all the time and nobody watches them. And then you make a thing and everybody loves it and it’s called Nobody Wants This, and the irony is not lost on me. It’s really, really exciting.”

Nobody Wants This premiered on Netflix Sept. 26 and, by Oct. 10, the streaming giant confirmed a second installment of the rom-com series. As the platform quipped in its announcement, “Nobody wants this to end.”

And for creator Erin—who based the series in part on her IRL relationship with husband Simon Tikhman—the show’s popularity has been nothing but a dream come true.

“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me,” she said in a statement. “The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed. Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”

The 42-year-old—who is daughter to musician David Foster—also previously hinted at what a part two might look like for the show.

“The story in season one unfolds really slowly,” Erin explained to IndieWire in September. “So I think if there is a season two I would want to just kind of pick up where we leave off and continue to take it slow, because I don’t want us to get too far ahead of ourselves.”

As she quipped, “I want my show to be on the air as long as possible!”
