Former Duke of York Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has reportedly been advised to stop horse riding amid growing scrutiny over his past links to Jeffrey Epstein, with aides said to be concerned about public perception.
According to reports, royal advisers believe it would be unwise for Andrew to be seen enjoying leisure activities at a time when serious questions are being examined by authorities. Sources suggest the concern is not about the activity itself, but about how images of him riding could be interpreted by the public.
Horse riding has long been described as one of the former duke’s favourite pastimes. Before leaving Royal Lodge in Windsor, he was frequently photographed riding around the estate — including during one of his first public appearances after stepping back from royal duties.
A source quoted by The Sun said advisers felt such moments risked sending “the wrong message” while investigations remain ongoing.

“They don’t think it’s appropriate for him to appear carefree in public right now,” the source claimed. “The priority is avoiding anything that could distract from the seriousness of the situation.”Andrew was allowed one small 'luxury' while in police custody - Manchester Evening News

Andrew was recently questioned by police as part of inquiries relating to allegations contained within newly surfaced Epstein-related files. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing, and no charges have been brought against him.
The situation has prompted renewed political and public discussion, with several MPs breaking convention this week to voice criticism — an unusual move when it comes to members of the Royal Family. The royal crisis of un-prince Andrew
Police have confirmed that assessments linked to the Epstein files are continuing, while officials have declined to comment on specific details, citing the need to protect the integrity of the process.
In a brief statement following recent developments, the King said that “the law must take its course.” Buckingham Palace has made no further comment.
For now, Andrew is said to be keeping a low profile — with aides reportedly focused on limiting public appearances and avoiding images that could fuel further controversy.
