However, Windhorst also emphasized the current reality in stark terms: “Right now, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade market, there is no Giannis Antetokounmpo trade discussions. He has not asked for it. The Bucks are not looking to trade him.”

Giannis himself recently helped shut down the speculation. In an interview during the NBA Finals, the 2021 champion offered praise for both the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder, calling out the performances of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and his close friend Pascal Siakam. “The Finals are different,” Antetokounmpo said. “I hope to be back soon with the Bucks.”
