Liam Payne died after falling from his hotel room balcony in Argentina – and now a family friend has claimed the singer ‘could have been saved’ if an ambulance had been called

In a hair-raising revelation, a family friend of Liam Payne stated that the singer “could have been saved” if hotel staff had chosen to call an ambulance when he originally collapsed in their lobby, rather than escorting him back to his room. During the former One Direction heartthrob’s final moments in Argentina, the 31-year-old tragically plunged to his death from his third-floor hotel balcony at Buenos Aires’ CasaSur Palermo Hotel on Wednesday.

Reports allege that not long before the fatal incident, Liam behaved aggressively in the hotel’s lobby, prompting suspicions among the staff that he might be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs. Staff suggested he return to his room, but shortly thereafter, the dreadful sound of his body falling onto the internal courtyard was heard.

A chilling 911 transcript revealed the hotel manager notifying emergency services with a dire warning: “We have a guest who’s off his head on drugs and is destroying everything in his room. We need someone to come.”

Panic escalated as the manager made a second distress call expressing fears about Liam’s safety, given the balcony in his room, and conveying the urgency of the situation by saying: “We need you to send someone urgently because, well, I don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. They must be in a room that has a balcony. And well, we’re a little bit worried he’ll do something, that he’ll put his life at risk.”

A source close to the late singer, Liam, has revealed that he “would have lived” if immediate medical attention had been sought when he began acting “erratically” in a hotel lobby. Instead, he was sent back to his room while in a “in a psychotic state,” reports the Mirror.

The source told The Mail on Sunday: “Liam didn’t have to die. Liam didn’t want to die. He had promised us all he would never commit suicide. He was looking forward to the future. If someone had called an ambulance when he collapsed in the hotel lobby instead of taking him back to his room and leaving him in there alone, in a psychotic state, he would still be with us.”

The police are now investigating a theory that the singer may have been under the influence of a potent substance known to cause extreme highs and lows and induce aggression. Photos from inside Liam’s hotel room showed traces of white powder, tin foil, and a smashed television screen.

However, officials have not yet confirmed or denied these claims. The same source also shared that Liam was “happy and in good spirits” on Tuesday while undergoing tests for his US visa renewal. According to them, a family friend visited him on the morning of his death and brought him his favorite American-style chocolate-chip cookies

A close friend of the singer, who had been with him on the morning of his tragic demise, observed that he “seemed a bit tipsy, like he had been drinking, but wasn’t in a bad state.”

The friend also noted that the artist was working on his computer, “replicating” the hit song Fireproof by 1D because he wanted to redo the beat of his favorite track. They shared that Liam was “in a good place, planning for the future” and eagerly awaiting a return trip to Miami to join his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, who had previously traveled back home from Argentina to take care of their dog.

Chicago resident Brett Watson, coincidentally at the hotel, recounted to ITV how Liam made multiple trips down to the lobby before his untimely death—during one instance, he appeared “very frustrated” and started “smashing his laptop” in front of other guests. According to Watson, when Liam was last seen in the reception area, he “passed out in the lobby of the hotel, looked like he was convulsing a little bit and had to be physically taken back to his room.”

A source questioned the lack of immediate medical attention stating: “If Liam was convulsing. why didn’t the hotel call an ambulance immediately? That is what no one can understand. He never convulsed before. If he was that sick why did someone take him back to his room and leave him there alone, with an open door to the balcony?”

They continued: “If Liam was in a psychotic state, he was unaware of his actions. It’s possible he was trying to leave his room, thought the balcony was the exit, and accidentally fell. We’re tormented by the fact that he was left alone in his room after having convulsions and was clearly in a psychotic state.”

The National Criminal and Correctional Prosecutor’s Office No 16 in Argentina is investigating the incident as an “inconclusive death.”
