Security video from Slappy’s Express Car Wash in Forest Hill shows North Texas rapper G$ Lil Ronnie running from two gunmen who chase him across the parking lot while shooting at him.
The rapper, whose real name was Ronnie Sibley, was killed in the shooting on Monday morning along with his 5-year-old daughter, R’mani Sibley, who was found in her father’s car.
Forest Hill police have said that they are searching for two suspects in the killings and have obtained warrants on capital murder charges. Police revealed the names of the wanted suspects, 25-year-old Adonis Robinson and 21-year-old Jakobie Russell, at a news conference on Wednesday afternoon.
A picture of the two suspects, Adonis Robinson, left, and Jakobie Russell, wanted on capital murder charges in the shooting of Ronnie Sibley and his daughter R’mani, 5, was shown at a news conference at Forest Hill City Hall on Wednesday, March 5.
The surveillance video from the car wash’s security camera, published by TMZ, does not include audio but appears to show that Sibley was vacuuming his car, a maroon Dodge Challenger, when two men approached him and began shooting. Sibley ran across the lot, behind some other cars parked in the car wash bays and behind a dumpster while trying to evade the gunmen. The video ends after he is apparently shot and stumbles and collapses in the parking lot.
Forest Hill police have said that the two men, wearing blue jeans and gray sweaters, got out of a white four-door Kia, about 10:45 a.m., approached Sibley’s parked car, and shot the father and child to death. Police have not yet commented on a motive for the shooting.
Police revealed Wednesday that officers found the suspects’ car and investigators have processed it for evidence.
Robinson was released from a Texas prison in August, authorities said. He registered as a sex offender after he was convicted of trying to sexually assault a jogger near Marine Creek Lake in Fort Worth in 2019, according to the Star-Telegram’s archives.
Family mourns loss of father and child
R’mani Sibley was an elementary school student in Crowley, according to her family.
R’mani Sibley, 5, was killed in a shooting in Forest Hill along with her father, Ronnie Sibley.
A GoFundMe account is raising money for funeral and household expenses.
“On March 3rd, a senseless act of gun violence took the lives of a devoted father and his precious 5-year-old daughter, leaving a mother and family devastated beyond words,” the GoFundMe description says. “In the wake of this unimaginable tragedy, the mother is left not only grieving the loss of her beloved daughter and partner but also struggling to support her household during this difficult time.”
North Texas rapper Ronnie Sibley, known as G$ Lil Ronnie, and his 5-year-old daughter R’mani were killed in a shooting Monday, March 3, at a car wash in Forest Hill.
Pastor Rodney McIntosh with Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) Fort Worth, spoke on behalf of R’mani’s mother at a news conference at a Fort Worth church on Tuesday.
“The mother wants everyone to know that she is heartbroken and she is grieving,” he said.
Before the shooting, the girl’s mother had dropped her off with Sibley, McIntosh said. The father and his daughter had spent the weekend at Great Wolf Lodge to celebrate her cousin’s birthday, he said.
“This is about a mother who is grieving the death of a 5-year-old child,” McIntosh said. “If we’re going to do anything as a community, let’s make sure that we come together to stand behind them.”
Sibley also has a 12-year-old daughter who is mourning the loss of her father and sister, McIntosh said.
Sibley’s aunt Stella Houston told reporters that he was cleaning out his car when “somebody came through shooting and killed him and the baby … He was a family man and he was going around rapping, OK? Why would you target him? … He didn’t bother nobody.”
