Similar to time, a billion views is undoubtedly insufficient to erase the thoughtless murmurs of a close friend, but it’s still a significant achievement. The legendary 1984 hit song “Careless Whisper” by George Michael has a music video that has lately eclipsed the historic view count of hundreds of thousands of views each day.

The song marked Michael’s departure from Wham! and transition into a very successful solo career. Depending on the nation of release, it was billed to either “George Michael” or “Wham! featuring George Michael.” “Careless Whisper,” which spent three weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in 1984 and 1985, is still among the artist’s best-known songs of all time, in part because of its instantly identifiable featured saxophone solo. With four weeks at No. 1 in 1987 and three weeks in 1988, “One More Try” and “Faith” are the only songs to have topped the charts more than once.
