“HE BELIEVES SHE’S STILL LOCAL” — Sheriff Shares Major Update In Search For Savannah Guthrie’s Missing Mom

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos admitted he’s only holding out hope Nancy Guthrie is alive because he hasn’t seen any “proof of death.”

“They ask me, do I have proof of life? I ask them, is there proof of death?” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in an interview with Fox10 on Tuesday.

The 84-year-old grandmother was last seen at her house on Jan. 31 when she was dropped off after a family dinner. While the FBI released a description and chilling video last week of a masked, gloved man tampering with her doorbell camera around the time she disappeared, they still haven’t identified any suspects or persons of interest.

Authorities have doubled the cash reward for information leading to a breakthrough in the case, to a staggering $100,000.

New ‘biological evidence’ found in Nancy Guthrie’s home could be from kidnap suspect

By Joe Marino and Zoe Hussain

Investigators uncovered DNA evidence that does not belong to Nancy Guthrie during a search of her Catalina Foothills home more than two weeks after she was kidnapped, sources told The Post.

The evidence revealed Wednesday following a subsequent search the residence of the 84-year-old mother of “Today” anchor Savannah Guthrie with a fine-tooth comb, sources said.

It’s not clear what the evidence is, when exactly it was discovered or whether it has been shared with the FBI.

The revelation comes as the investigation into Nancy’s disappearance has stretched into its third week with no suspects or clear leads.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said in a statement on Wednesday that investigators are “currently analyzing biological evidence” found at Nancy’s home and that DNA profiles are under lab analysis.

“The number of profiles, and other related details remain part of the active investigation,” the statement said.

“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect,” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said on “Today” on Wednesday morning.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed when reached by The Post that DNA evidence was uncovered at the home and that it is “all part of the investigation.”

That new evidence follows tests on a black glove found about two hours from Nancy’s home, which did not return any matches in the federal DNA database.

FBI contacts Mexican authorities for help in Guthrie search — after claims she is being held ‘south of the border’

By Jared Downing

The FBI has reached out to authorities in Mexico as they continue to hunt for Nancy Guthrie and her mysterious kidnapper, a source told Fox News.

The report follows claims from a supposed ransom note writer that the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie is being held “south of the border,” according to TMZ, which received the letter.

Guthrie’s home in Tucson, Arizona, is around an hour’s drive to the Mexican border, prompting speculation that she may have been taken to Mexico after vanishing from her home on February 1.

The FBI had given no official confirmation that it is searching for Nancy in Mexico, however a person of interest was detained and questioned in the border town of Rio Rico on Feb. 10.

That person was soon released without charges, but the incident suggests authorities are considering the possibility that Guthrie was taken over the border after she was abducted on Feb. 1.

The FBI recently visited a Tucson gun shop and showed the owner names and photos of people who “looked Mexican,” the store’s owner, Phillip Martin, told The Post on Tuesday.

Most of the roughly 20 persons of interest had brown complections and facial hair matching the masked suspect caught on camera the morning Guthrie vanished, Martin said.

Arizona internet user searched Google for Nancy Guthrie’s address weeks before she was abducted from Tucson home: report

By Anna Young

An Arizona internet user mysteriously searched Google for Nancy Guthrie’s address and her “Today” host daughter’s salary weeks before the 84-year-old was abducted from her Tucson home, a report shows.

Google Trends data shows Guthrie’s home address was searched Jan. 11 — three weeks before she was reported missing — and again between June 21 and June 28, 2025 by someone in the Grand Canyon State, according to Fox News Digital.

There were also reportedly two Google image searches of the elderly grandmother’s home — one between March 1 and 8, 2025, and the other from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1, 2025.

The shadowy online figure specifically searched for images or a map of the house.

In the weeks before Guthrie’s Jan. 31 disappearance, someone in Tucson also searched for “Savannah Guthrie salary” between Dec. 13 and 20, 2025, the outlet reported.

The search for the missing matriarch has entered its 18th day.

A reward of up to $100,000 has been offered for information leading to Guthrie’s recovery or the arrest and conviction of her captors.

DNA found at Nancy Guthrie’s home could belong to suspect, sheriff says

By Jared Downing

DNA evidence found at Nacy Guthrie’s home could trace back to her kidnapper, the Pima County sheriff told NBC.

“We believe that we may have some DNA there that may be our suspect,” Sheriff Chris Nanos said on “Today” on Wednesday morning.

The revelation comes days after authorities revealed samples found on a glove discarded near the property — a once-promising lead — did not match anything in the federal DNA database.

Nanos added that they won’t know for sure if the sample recovered from the home belongs to the suspect until it is “separated, sorted out.”

The sample is being examined as the search for the 84-year-old enters its third week with few apparent leads, despite authorities recovering security camera footage of the suspect and detaining multiple people for questioning, who were soon released.

Family friend leaves heartbreaking note at Nancy Guthrie’s home: ‘So many still need you. Don’t leave us’

By Steven Vago and Jared Downing

TUCSON, Arizona — A handwritten note by a friend of Nancy Guthrie offers a heartbreaking message to the missing grandmother: “So many still need you. Don’t leave us.”

The letter says the 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie made her “believe in the power of prayer again” and that she looks forward to the day they can “pick up where we left off” — when Guthrie returns alive.

The letter was taped to a sign reading “Your neighbors stand with you,” below which well-wishers have laid flowers, candles, and other tokens of support in the nearly three weeks since Guthrie vanished.

Then you and I can pick up where we left off. So many still need you. Don’t leave us. Don’t leave your family. It’s not your time. You got this. I’m praying for you.

By Carly Ortiz-Lytle

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said he believes Nancy Guthrie is being held locally as the search for the missing 84-year-old stretches into its third week.

“I don’t know why. I don’t have any evidence to prove that, but I just believe she’s somewhere here locally,” Nanos told the BBC on Wednesday.

Nanos added that the Guthrie family has been “100%” cooperative with the investigation and described them as victims, not suspects, in the case.

Yet another purported Nancy Guthrie ransom note sent to TMZ

By Anthony Blair

TMZ claims it has received yet another ransom note from Nancy Guthrie’s supposed kidnappers, the outlet reported.

The new note “is sophisticated, and puts the media right in the middle of it,” the outlet said in a social media post Wednesday teasing the “TMZ Live” entertainment program.

It comes just hours after TMZ founder Harvey Levin said the outlet would no longer publicly say if it receives alleged ransom notes.

“We decided that we’re not going to say if he’s sent us any more letters. If we say we got a letter today, and tomorrow you ask me, and I say we got a letter tomorrow, and then the next day we say we’re not gonna talk about it, it tips off the kidnapper,” Levin said during an interview on Fox News’ “Hannity” on Tuesday.

“We’re essentially saying, ‘Well, that’s the day he gave us the information,'” he added.

Google makes crushing admission about desperate search for Nancy Guthrie

By Anthony Blair

Google is struggling to retrieve critical security camera footage from Nancy Guthrie’s home, hindering the investigation into the 84-year-old’s disappearance. Authorities have only accessed limited video, and the absence of an active subscription for the cameras complicates recovery efforts, despite a $100,000 reward and numerous tips.

The 84-year-old mother of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie had multiple cameras at her house near Tucson, Arizona, but so far, authorities have only been able to obtain Google Nest video from the front of the house, showing a masked man approaching her front door.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators have pressed the tech giant on whether additional video can be recovered, but the company admitted, “We don’t think we can get anything,” the sheriff told NewsNation on Tuesday.

Nancy Guthrie sheriff admits only holding out hope as no ‘proof of death’

By Anthony Blair

The sheriff leading the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has admitted he is only holding out hope she is alive because he hasn’t seen any “proof of death.”

“They ask me, do I have proof of life? I ask them, is there proof of death?” Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said in an interview with Fox10 on Tuesday.

“I’m going to have that faith, and sometimes that faith, that hope, is all we have,” he added as the investigation heads into its 18th day. “My team, 400 people out there in the field today, woke up this morning and went out there with the hope and the belief that they’re going to find Nancy.”

He was speaking hours after investigators were handed another setback, when DNA found in a glove 2 miles from Nancy’s house turned up no matches on the FBI’s database.

“We’re going to continue working this case, every minute of every day, and we will find her,” Nanos insisted, before speaking directly to Nancy’s captor.

“And we will find you … to the individual doing this, let her go, just let her go. It will work out better for you in the long run, trust me,” he said.

FBI visited Tucson gun shop about Nancy Guthrie suspect, owner says

By Jared Downing

The co-owner of a Tucson gun shop said an FBI agent recently paid him a visit — bearing a list of photos and names to suss out for recent gun purchases.

Phillip Martin, of Armor Bearer Arms, said the agent showed him three pages with six to eight faces and names to run through his system. All of the photos had facial hair matching the description of Nancy Guthrie’s suspected kidnapper.

“Most of them had a mustache or goatee or whatever,” Martin told The Post Tuesday. “All of those photos immediately brought me back to that video of the guy in the mask. … After he showed me the photos, I had the immediate intuition it was related to the Guthrie case.”

The agent wanted to know whether any of the names had purchased a firearm from Martin’s shop, he told Fox News, which first reported on the visit.

None of the names match any of Martin’s prior customers.

He declined to say exactly which day the agent swung by.

Genetic material also found on a potentially key black glove discovered near the home also came up empty, Nanos said.

The DNA found in Nancy’s million-dollar house in the Catalina Foothills outside Tucson was different from the genetic material found on the glove, Nanos told Fox News.

Both of the DNA samples were run against the FBI’s CODIS database, which contains profiles of all known violent criminals — and all those convicted of felonies in certain states.

The glove zeroed in on was among more than a dozen found in the area but the only one considered promising because most if not all of the rest were later determined to have been dropped by searchers and others, officials said.

Accused Nancy Guthrie ransom-note hoaxer remains free after arraignment

A man accused of sending a fake ransom note to Nancy Guthrie’s family was arraigned in federal court in Arizona on Friday and remains free, according to reports.

Derrick Callella, 42, of Hawthorne, Calif., agreed to have his electronics monitored as part of pretrial restrictions, which allowed for his release pending trial, KVOA reported.

He also is forbidden to travel except between California and Arizona and was ordered not to have any contact with any of his alleged victims or potential witnesses.

Callella allegedly sent a fake note to Savannah Guthrie’s sister, Annie Guthrie, and Annie’s husband, Tommaso Cioni.

No second hearing date was set for him, but his lawyer said he intends to waive his client’s appearance at a future arraignment.

Savannah Guthrie, the TV-star daughter of Nancy, who was abducted from her Arizona home more than two weeks ago and is still missing, is a co-host on the show.

“Bring hope, peace, some resolution to all of this, and let her know of the great love and support and prayers that surround her. In your name, we ask, amen,’’ said Hicks, who officially took the reins of the archdiocese earlier this month.

The top clergyman called the situation “heartbreaking’’ earlier on the show.

“It’s hard to watch,’’ he said of the ’round-the-clock news coverage of the baffling case.

“I want to just extend my absolute support, and especially my prayers, not only my own prayers, but she has a community of people who’s praying for her and for her mom and for the entire family,’’ he said of Savannah.

Nancy Guthrie’s family ruled out as suspects ‘in the first few days’ of kidnapping investigation: sheriff

Mask, clothing worn by Nancy Guthrie kidnapping suspect, also believed to have been purchased at Walmart: report

By Zoe Hussain

The mask and other clothing worn by the alleged kidnapper seen on doorbell camera footage on the doorstep of Nancy Guthrie’s home on the night she vanished also appear to have been bought from Walmart, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told CBS News.

Investigators are still working to identify the brands of all the items. The suspect’s backpack, a black Ozark Trail Hiker, is sold exclusively at Walmart. The masked, armed man’s gun holster is also sold at the major retailer.

Betsy Brantner Smith of the National Police Association told The Post that the backpack and holster could be one of the most “promising” leads yet for detectives working on the 84-year-old’s kidnapping case.

Authorities do not yet know whether the items were all purchased in-store in Arizona, elsewhere, or online.

Sources familiar with Nancy Guthrie probe furious at media outlets that wrongly claimed son-in-law was prime suspect

By Zoe Hussain

Sources familiar with the investigation into Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance are furious at irresponsible news outlets that had incorrectly claimed her son-in-law, Tommaso Cioni, was the prime suspect in the 84-year-old’s kidnapping.

“’Instead of criticizing law enforcement, maybe criticize the people and outlets who have been reporting certain storylines with zero evidence,” one source said.

Cioni was the last person to see Nancy on Jan. 31, when he dropped her off at home after she had dinner with him and her daughter, Annie. The mother of “Today” TV anchor Savannah Guthrie was reported missing the following day.

New TMZ ransom letter gave 3 possible clues about Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping

By Alex Oliveira

The latest supposed ransom letter to TMZ from a person claiming to have knowledge about Nancy Guthrie’s whereabout left a breadcrumb trail of clues.

“I know what I saw five days ago south of the border, and I was told to shut up, so I know who he is, and that was definitely Nancy with them,” the unverified letter read, according to TMZ founder Harvey Levin.
Nancy and Savannah Guthrie holding handsNancy and Savannah Guthrie at an event in Beverly Hills in 2012.MediaPunch / BACKGRID
The cryptic message suggests three major things:

Nancy may have been taken to Mexico
Multiple people are involved
It also suggests the group has a leader — a detail the writer suggested in previous letters.

Monday’s message was the fourth apparently sent by the same sender claiming to offer knowledge of the kidnapping in return for a reward.

The FBI is aware of the messages, but nothing about them has been verified.

The creep has been taunting Savannah Guthrie and her family ever since Nancy was taken from her Tucson home Feb. 1.

At first he demanded millions of dollars in bitcoin for her return, then he claimed merely to have knowledge of where Nancy Guthrie is.

Levin said he has turned this letter, and all the others, over to the FBI. He also warned that he the writer is a hoaxer, he is committing a crime.

‘Most’ of the 16 gloves police collected as evidence of Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping were trash discarded by police during search

By Alex Oliveira

“Most” of the 16 gloves investigators collected as possible evidence near Nancy Guthrie’s home was merely refuse discarded on the ground by detectives, according to police.

That admission comes after police spent a week scouring the desert landscape around Nancy’s Tucson, Arizona, home for clues — including gloves like the ones the supposed kidnapper wore in chilling security footage taken from her front door on Feb. 1.

And apparently investigators were leaving their own gloves by the wayside right in the area where they were searching for gloves.

But at least one of the recovered gloves — which appears to match the suspect’s — got a DNA hit, which the FBI is now running through its system to look for any known matches.

Bombshell DNA breakthrough in Guthrie case could be imminent as FBI runs glove evidence through national database

By Kaydi Pelletier

The FBI is hoping to match male DNA from a black glove found near Nancy Guthrie’s home to a profile in its national DNA database — and could make a connection as soon as Monday.

“The gloves found approximately 2 miles from the Guthrie residence in a field near the side of the road were packaged up by PCSD [Pima County Sheriff’s Department] and sent overnight on 2/12 and they arrived at their private lab in Florida on 2/13,” the bureau said in a statement Sunday.

“The FBI received preliminary results yesterday on 2/14 and are awaiting quality control and official confirmation today [Sunday] before putting unknown male profile into CoDIS, the national database unique to the bureau. This process typically takes 24 hours from when the bureau receives DNA.”

According to that timeline, investigators may have already run the glove DNA through CoDIS, hunting for a match.

The Post is reaching out to the FBI for comment.

Exclusive: Trump threatens kidnappers with death penalty if Nancy Guthrie isn’t returned alive

By Steven Nelson

WASHINGTON — President Trump told The Post Monday that those responsible for kidnapping Nancy Guthrie must release her unharmed or they will face the “most severe” federal penalties.

In a brief phone interview, Trump said he would want the Justice Department to seek the death penalty if the 84-year-old mother of NBC “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie is killed.

The president said the abductors would face “very, very severe — the most severe” federal consequences if Nancy Guthrie is found dead after being abducted from her home outside Tucson on Feb. 1.

Asked if that meant the DOJ would request the death penalty, Trump answered: “The most, yeah — that’s true.”

Creep sends fourth Nancy Guthrie ransom note to TMZ — and founder Harvey Levin makes the writer an offer

By Alex Oliveira

A fourth note has been sent to TMZ by somebody claiming to know what happened to Nancy and demanding confidential payment for their information — with the outlet’s founder, Harvey Levin, asking them to prove their claims are real by revealing what they know.

“If you’re worried about getting this money, and you really do have this information, send it to us,” Levin said in a Monday X post. “We will forward it to the FBI, and that way there’s a record that we have that you supplied this information.

“If they find her, and they find the kidnapper, then at least there is evidence because we have it, that you’re the one who provided the information,” he added. “So this is a way for you to get that money if this really is legitimate.”

The note appeared to have been sent by the same person who has been sending TMZ notes claiming to know what happened to Nancy, but refusing to disclose because they don’t want to be arrested before they can claim the FBI’s $100,000 reward for information leading to her.

They previously demanded a bitcoin sum — which would be difficult to trace — before offering up their info.

Levin also quoted alarming information about the supposed circumstances of Nancy’s disappearance that the letter sender claimed to have.

” ‘I know what I saw five days ago south of the border, and I was told to shut up, so I know who he is, and that was definitely Nancy with them,’ ” Harvey said, reading from the letter.

The Post finds more gloves near Nancy Guthrie’s house where FBI found black one tested for DNA

By Joe Marino

TUCSON, Arizona — Multiple discarded gloves were found by The Post in the same area where the FBI collected a black glove that investigators think could be tied to the abduction of Nancy Guthrie.

The Post discovered three additional gloves Sunday afternoon in Catalina Foothills, roughly two miles from the Tucson home of “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

It’s not known whether any of the abandoned gloves are connected to the crime – but their prevalence in an area police have been scouring over the two weeks since 84-year-old Nancy vanished suggested the search had some holes in it.

The Post alerted the Pima County Sheriff’s Department about the finds, which come as investigators got a possible bombshell DNA hit on a black nitrile glove that appears to match the pair Nancy’s masked kidnapper wore while filmed tinkering with her home doorbell camera on Feb. 1.

Investigators ‘leaning away’ from relatives of Nancy Guthrie as suspects: report

By Alex Oliveira

Investigators are “leaning away” from any of Nancy Guthrie’s relatives being behind her disappearance, NBC News reported, citing sources close to the investigation.

There are a “myriad of theories” about what happened to the 84-year-old, but not a single one that is being zeroed in on, the sources said.

Several people detained in the investigation so far — including a man taken into custody Friday while his home was searched, and a Tucson delivery driver — are also being leaned away from as suspects.

Both of those individuals were released after questioning.

Exclusive: Inside Savannah Guthrie’s emotional strategy to appeal to mom Nancy’s kidnapper

Savannah Guthrie is not being forced by authorities to share her emotional pleas to her mom Nancy’s suspected kidnapper, according to an expert.

In her latest video shared Sunday, the “Today” anchor begged Nancy’s purported captor to “do the right thing” and bring her home, as the ongoing investigation into the 84-year-old’s disappearance continues.

Former CIA member and FBI special agent Tracy Walder tells Page Six that after multiple past videos, Savannah, 54, is attempting “a different angle” to appeal to the alleged kidnapper.

Promising lead: Nancy Guthrie suspect bought mask, clothing at Walmart, authorities say

By Anthony Blair

The armed suspect seen wearing a mask and gloves in eerie doorbell camera footage on the night of Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance bought the items from Walmart, CBS News has reported.

Walmart has provided investigators with records of all purchases made of a black Ozark Trail Hiker backpack, which was the suspect was wearing in Nancy’s Nest camera footage. It is sold exclusively at Walmart.

Pima County, Arizona, Sheriff Chris Nanos told the outlet the backpack is one of the most promising leads in the case.

The company has pulled data on all online and in-store purchases of the backpack over the past several months, looking farther afield than Tucson, Arizona, according to reports.

Walmart is also working with the FBI for records of people who bought ski masks.

Online sleuths also believe the pistol holster the intruder was wearing also came from Walmart.
