Family and friends of Young Scooter gathered to say their final goodbyes at the late rapper’s funeral service.

Scooter’s celebration of life was held on Monday, April 7, at Saint Philip AME Church in Atlanta. Some attendees wore green outfits to the service while his son Kenneth Bailey Jr. debuted a gold chain and pendant dedicated to his father. People rallied around his casket after it was carried out of the church and shed tears as multiple white doves were released in his honor. Scooter will be buried in his hometown of Walterboro, S.C., per TMZ.

Young Scooter passed away on his 39th birthday last month. He died after he suffered a serious injury to his leg while he attempted to escape police. The Atlanta Police Department was called to the residence Scooter was at after someone told 911 dispatchers she witnessed a nude woman being beaten by a man in the front yard. Police arrived on the scene and didn’t see any of the allegations the caller made. Scooter and another man ran after police knocked on the door.

The 911 caller was identified as Demetria Spencer. Spencer, who was a contestant on the Zeus series “Baddies,” later admitted she was the one who made the call and claimed she did because she was a victim of an alleged assault. Police arrested Spencer last week and charged her with Transmitting a False Public Alarm. She was released after she posted a $7,500 bond.

Future broke his silence on Young Scooter’s death a few days before the homegoing service. In an Instagram Story he posted last week, Future Hendrix eulogized his Freebandz artist by using a video of them together. The video showed just one of the numerous moments both artists shared over the past decade. Future and Scooter’s bond goes beyond the launch of Pluto’s Freebandz label in 2011. The two worked on numerous songs from Future’s 2010 debut mixtape 1000 until their recent collaboration “Hard To Handle.”

“Life will never b the same without u my [ninja emoji],” he wrote. “This s**t unreal.”

“I can hear u loud and clear my brother(street)…we got u kid,” Future wrote on X.
