Prince Harry and Meghan Markle ‘break silence’ on Frogmore Cottage eviction
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s team has spoken out.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s team have reportedly made new bombshell claims about the couple’s eviction from Frogmore Cottage in Windsor, that in now facing a major change three years after their departure. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were gifted the property by the late Queen Elizabeth for their 2018 wedding.
The Grade II listed building, built in 1801 for Queen Charlotte, is part of the Crown Estate, meaning that it’s part of the Sovereign’s public estate. Frogmore was converted from five residential units into one larger family home for the couple.
In 2019, royal accounts showed that Harry and Meghan paid £2.4 million to cover the refurbishment and rental of the cottage.

Harry and Meghan’s residence at the property was short-lived, as the couple moved to the US in early 2020.
In 2023, they removed all their remaining possessions after they were reportedly evicted from the property due to the release of Harry’s bombshell memoir, Spare, earlier that year.
Now, amid The Sun’s report that the Crown Estate is considering returning it to its original state and subdividing it again to ensure future occupancy, a new bombshell claim says that the Sussex team have finally revealed the “real reason” why the couple were evicted from the property in Windsor.
Royal journalist Tom Sykes said in his Royalist podcast that sources close to the couple claimed that the King waited for his mother to pass away because the late monarch would never have evicted them herself.
He said: “[The Sussexes’ team] are telling me now is that King Charles waited until after the Queen had died to kick Harry out. And they say that the Queen would have blocked it because it was her wedding gift to them.”

Mr Sykes claimed that Harry and Meghan “are right about this” because the last thing the late Queen would have wanted was “confrontation”.
He explained: “That was arguably one of her greatest weaknesses. Her inability to stand up to family members who played the family card to get what they wanted is well known.
“We saw it with Prince Andrew for decades. We saw it with Harry, of course, when he boasted about those private visits to her. And the Queen was very susceptible to that kind of emotional leverage.”
The journalist added that the Sussexes are “absolutely right” in saying she would never have allowed them to be kicked out, because “she just wouldn’t have the stomach for that particular fight”.
But he dubbed the Duke “naive” for thinking that the Royal Family would not “punish him” or “force him into exile”.
It was previously reported that the former Duke of York was offered the much smaller Frogmore Cottage in a bid to relocate him from the larger Royal Lodge.
But Andrew was said to have signed a 75-year lease on the Royal Lodge mansion in 2003 and refuses to downsize.
But early this year, the disgraced prince was forced to relocate to Sandringham, amid the mounting public furore due to his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
