“Chad Johnson Reacts to Deebo Samuel’s Trade Request with a Serious Warning”

Deebo Samuel is seeking a quick departure from the 49ers despite several strong seasons with the team. However, Chad Johnson reminded him that leaving the franchise that helped shape his career won’t necessarily lead to an easier path forward.

Deebo Samuel appears to be nearing the end of his time with the San Francisco 49ers after reportedly requesting a trade to continue his career elsewhere. His decision has sparked a wave of reactions, including a strong warning from former star Chad Johnson about the potential risks of leaving.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Nightcap Show, Johnson cautioned Samuel about the uncertainty that comes with changing teams. “The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. It’s not always greener on the other side, and hopefully, he doesn’t find that out, but if he goes to the wrong place, he will.” The former wide receiver warned that Samuel’s trade request could ultimately derail his NFL career.

Samuel has been making various moves to indicate that he definitely wants to leave San Francisco. According to a report by Larry Krueger, the 49ers’ receiver has already put his Bay Area house up for sale. Additionally, the team has told him that they agree with his manager helping him find a trade partner.

It’s worth noting that just over a year ago, John Lynch mentioned that the 49ers didn’t want to let good players go. “A good player [Samuel] and has done a ton for this organization,” Lynch said to 49ersWebzone. “We’re not in the business of letting good players out of here.”

Possible New Teams for Deebo Samuel

Several teams could use an experienced receiver like him who can also play as a running back in certain situations, such as the Chargers. However, according to Krueger, Samuel might be looking to join the Dolphins, which could indicate a possible trade involving Tyreek Hill moving to the 49ers.

Samuel’s Contract and Stats with the 49ers

If he stays for 2025, the 49ers will need to pay Samuel a salary of $15.8 million, which would be his last year under the rookie extension. Last season, he was paid $12.5 million. Last year might not have been the best for the team or for him, as it marked his third season with the fewest receiving yards (670) and the lowest receiving success rate in his career at 40.7%.
