Welsh music legend Sir Tom Jones will be performing another huge show in Cardiff this summer. Last month it was announced that Sir Tom was returning to the Welsh capital for a homecoming show as part of new gig series, Live at Bute Park, in August and tickets quickly sold out.
However, that gig has now been moved to Cardiff Castle and Welsh fans will be treated to two nights of Tom instead. The show, which was originally going to be held at Coopers Field, Bute Park, has been moved to the castle on the same date, Wednesday, August 20. The new date that has been added will take place on Thursday, August 21.
Pre-sale tickets for the second show at the castle will be available from 10am on Thursday, March 27, here. General sale tickets will be available at 10am through depotlive.co.uk and Ticketmaster on Friday, March 28. The gigs are Tom’s only Welsh headline performances on his 2025 Defy Explanation Tour. The two concerts mark the Green Green Grass of Home singer’s return to the Welsh capital after playing to 30,000 fans across three sold-out shows at Cardiff Castle in summer, 2023, with the shows selling out within 10 minutes of going on sale. Sir Tom will be turning 85 this summer, but is clearly not ready to slow down yet.
Fans can no doubt expect the Welshman to perform some of his biggest hits from over the decades, including Sexbomb, It’s Not Unusual, Delilah and many more when he takes to the stage for two nights with Cardiff’s iconic castle as his backdrop. He joins a list of some huge names performing there this summer, including the Pet Shop Boys, Snow Patrol, Jess Glynne and Rag ‘n’ Bone Man. You can find the full list of gigs taking place in the city this year here.
Announcing the original show, Tom said: “I love Cardiff and am really looking forward to playing in this beautiful park. The three shows I played at the castle in 2023 were absolutely fantastic, and I’m sure this will be the same – a great summer evening for everyone.”
Nick Saunders from DEPOT Live added: “We are delighted to be adding a second date with Tom Jones. His live shows are legendary – 30,000 people in 2023 plus many millions of people across the world would agree with that – and to have him perform in the shadow of our city’s magnificent castle for not one, but two headlining shows is an absolute honour.”
