Following her success in Dune 2 earlier this year, Florence Pugh is continuing to showcase her talents in the new film We Live in Love alongside Andrew Garfield.
We Live in Time‘s central cast bring the film’s romantic and bittersweet story to life. Directed by John Crowley, We Live in Time focuses on the relationship of Almut and Tobias in modern-day London. Told out of sequential order, the tearjerker We Live in Time showcases how the couple met, the struggles they experienced, and set the stage for a beautifully melancholy story about life and love. The film boasts an impressive cast across the board, with several talented actors with a range of experience bringing a lived-in quality to the movie.
We Live in Time is truly a two-hander though, splitting focus between Florence Pugh’s Almut and Andre Garfield’s Tobias. The pair push and pull during their course of their relationship, setting up many of the film’s internal drama over their conflicting views but genuine feelings about marriage, children, life and death. It’s a deceptively tricky pair of characters, and the two Oscar-nominated actors pull it off with impressive confidence. Here are the stars of We Live in Time and where audiences may have seen them before.

Character: Almut is one of the two main characters of We Live in Time. An ambitious and skilled chef, Almut is a pragmatic but sweet-hearted young woman who finds herself in an unlikely romance with Tobias after a chance encounter with the man. Almut’s health concerns are a major element of the film. Most of the plot sees Almut struggling to juggle her responsibilities to her family, her aspirations to earn glory in a globally renowned cooking competition, and her own existential fears about her future.
Andrew Garfield As Tobias
Born August 20, 1983
Active Since: 2004
Actor: Andrew Garfield got his start in theater before making the transition to television in shows like Sugar Rush and Doctor Who. After appearing a number of smaller dramas, Garfield became globally recognized after his performance as Eduardo Saverin in The Social Network. Following that, Garfield suited up as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Amazing Spider-Man films (as well as in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie, Spider-Man: No Way Home). Andrew Garfield’s best movie roles have earned him Oscar nominations for his performances in Hacksaw Ridge and Tick, Tick… Boom!.

Character: Tobias is the other half of We Live in Time‘s central romance. A soft-spoken young man who works for the Weetabix cereal company, Tobias is blindsided by Almut in more than way. His relationship with Almut is at the core of the film. A more overt romantic than his partner, Tobias does prove capable of standing up to the more prickly Almut on occasion, even if he usually tries (and often fails) to find a calm resolution.
