90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? fans have been reading rumors of Michael Ilesanmi getting a Netflix documentary titled “Surviving Angela.” Michael from Nigeria had messaged Angela Deem from Georgia, who was 22 years older than him, on Facebook in 2017. Angela fell for Michael and flew to Lagos to meet him to get engaged and bring Michael to the U.S. on a K-1 visa. However, Michael’s visa was rejected, which led to Michael and Angela deciding to marry in Nigeria itself.

However, Michael broke up with Angela after six years of being together. He didn’t do it face to face but fled from her house in February 2024. While Angela cried that Michael was missing, he went to Texas with his new friends, AKA his family. Angela has often been accused of being abusive towards Michael, especially after accusing him of lying and keeping secrets from her. Still, Angela had married Michael despite him having cheated on her more than once. Michael and Angela’s dramatic storyline has made headlines all the time, but is it getting made into a documentary next?

In June 2024, Angela took Michael to court by filing a petition asking for their marriage to be annulled. Angela claimed that Michael fraudulently induced her into the marriage so he could get a green card. She even accused him of conspiring with other Nigerian men, presumably the friends he made in his “Paradise Men” WhatsApp group, to trick other U.S. citizens into marriage and get permanent resident status. In his response, Michael said Angela’s request for annulment was “frivolous,” according to InTouch. Michael claimed that he had never scammed Angela. He insisted that he never abandoned their marriage.

Michael asked for a divorce instead, since Angela “has committed both physical and mental abuse” during the entirety of their marriage, which took place in Nigeria in January 2020 as documented in Happily Ever After? season 5. In November 2024, 90 Day Fiance Uncensored on Facebook shared a picture of Michael next to the Netflix logo and captioned the post, “According to Entertainment Tonight Michael is given a new Netflix documentary series called Surviving Angela …..coming soon.” The post received over 11k likes with more than 1.7k comments and hundreds of shares. Most of the comments were from fans who mentioned how excited they were to watch the “documentary,” which would surely be messy since Michael used Angela for a green card, and she mistreated him in return.

“If this is real it’s actually great.. a show that focuses on male victims of domestic abuse ..” wrote Samantha Mendez .

Not all comments were from fans showing sympathy towards Michael. Michael was accused of having stayed with Angela for a green card. He was asked why he never left Angela when he was still in Nigeria if he was allegedly abused, but for having done it as soon as he came to the U.S. Meanwhile, Michael and Angela’s off-screen drama is also getting too much for fans, such as Madam-Rahnée Howie who have commented, “I’m honestly tired of hearing about him and her.”

The news of a Netflix documentary being dedicated to Michael and Angela’s relationship couldn’t be true since the pair could still be under contract with the network that airs 90 Day Fiancé. While there were rumors of Angela being fired because she spoiled her Happily Ever After? storyline, nothing has been confirmed yet. However, Michael has not addressed the rumors of his Netflix documentary either on his social media. Michael said that if he got an offer from the network or any other activity or any other show, he was going to “grab it.” Michael admitted he was used to being on TV after the past six years. “I’m working on something, you know? I don’t want to put my head in one basket, so that’s all I will say.”
