Patrick Mahomes’ Family and Background
Mahomes comes from a mixed-race family. His dad, Pat Mahomes Sr., is Black, and his mom, Randi Mahomes (nee Martin), is white. Growing up in a multicultural home, he got to experience and appreciate both sides of his heritage. He’s talked openly about how some people try to question his racial identity, but he’s always been confident in who he is. In a 2020 interview with GQ, he addressed the conversations people have about him online, saying, “I’ve seen how people on Twitter have tweeted and said, ‘Oh, you’re not full Black.’ But I’ve always just had the confidence and believed in who I am. And I’ve known that I’m Black, and I’m proud to be Black. And I’m proud to have a white mom, too.”
Sports run in the Mahomes family. His dad, Pat Mahomes Sr., was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for teams like the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox, and New York Mets from 1992 to 2003.
