Like time, a billion views is obviously not enough to make the careless mutterings of a close friend disappear, but it’s still a noteworthy accomplishment. The music video for George Michael’s iconic 1984 hit single “Careless Whisper” has recently surpassed the record-breaking daily view count of hundreds of thousands.

With the release of the song, Michael left Wham! and began his wildly successful solo career. It was credited to either “George Michael” or “Wham! featuring George Michael,” depending on the country of release. One of the artist’s most well-known songs of all time is “Careless Whisper,” which topped the Billboard Hot 100 for three weeks in 1984 and 1985. This is partly due to its instantly recognizable featured saxophone solo.

“One More Try” and “Faith” are the only two songs to have topped the charts more than once, spending four weeks at No. 1 in 1987 and three weeks in 1988.
