It’s a new week and the start of May! And warmer weather is actually making itself known in many parts of the county. But when you’re not enjoying the sun, Netflix is bringing a ton of new movies and shows to their lineup for you to check out. As occurs at the beginning of every month, they are adding everything but the kitchen sink.

The new movies and shows include a new chef series, a star-studded movie and mini-series, and a hard-hitting drama.

First up this week is season 1 of Boiling Point! The series is headed to Netflix on Monday, April 29, 2024. The series follows head chef Carly as she tries to make Northern England dishes into high-end cuisine and negotiate the tension in and out of the kitchen. This is the episodic version of the 2021 Stephen Graham film of the same name.

It stars Vinnette Robinson, Izuka Hoyle, Hannah Walters, Hannah Traylen, Gary Lamont, and Daniel Larkai. The series originally aired on the BBC.

Netflix is adding Man in Full and Unfrosted this week

This week also brings Unfrosted. The pastry-based movie hits Netflix on Friday, May 3. The movie stars Jerry Seinfeld, Melissa McCarthy, Hugh Grant, Sarah Cooper, Jim Gaffigan, Amy Schumer, Christian Slater, and Bill Burr.

It follows the story of how Pop-Tarts were created and the rivalry between Post and Kellogg. Just based on the cast alone, this is definitely a comedic version of the true story.

A Man in Full is also headed to the streaming service this week! The mini-series hits Netflix on Thursday, May 2, and stars Jeff Daniels, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, Tom Pelphry, Aml Ameen, Chanté Adams, and Kon Micheal Hill.

The mini-series tells the story of an Atlanta real estate mogul as he struggles with bankruptcy and tries to defend everything that he built. For better or worse.

Lola is also headed to Netflix this week! You can catch the drama on Thursday, May 2. It stars (and is written and directed by) Nicola Peltz Beckham. The movie also features Raven Goodwin, Richie Merritt, Luke David Blumm, Trevor Long, and Virginia Madsen.

The film tells the story of Lola James, a young woman who is trying to save enough money to get her little brother, Arlo, out from under a toxic household. But then, one night, everything changes. How will Lola deal with it on top of everything else?
