Rich Homie Quan’s team and management recently delivered the late rapper’s first post-humous project, titled Forever Going In, which was uploaded to streaming platforms on October 4, 2024.

The album was first announced last Thursday, a day before Forever Going In’s release, with a post made via Quan’s official Instagram account. The album hosts 34 full-length tracks with features from 2 Chainz, Sukihana, Piles, and more.

The caption on RHQ’s announcement post read:

“Dropping at MIDNIGHT! 34 listed songs ironically that’s the age I… Bonus 1 extra, because tomorrow will forever be a celebration!.”

Quan’s posthumous album includes his recently released Song Cry, delivered to streaming platforms almost two weeks after his passing on September 17, 2024. Upon the album’s release, several fans took to social media to express gratitude and appreciation for Quan’s estate honoring his legacy with Forever Going In.

Several social media users commented on Rich’s posthumous album announcement on X praising the LP, with one individual even citing how Quan would’ve been “proud” of Forever Going In’s release.

Similar reactions followed, with fans expressing their love for the music and entertainment Quan delivered during his time in the industry. Many were seen praying for his family, hoping the late rapper’s soul “rests in peace.”

“I just wish ppl gave him his flowers while he was here ! Homie been putting out bangers ! Top 3 and NOT 3,” a fan stated.

“Am gonna cry my eyes out once this album drop cuz av been waiting on this album ever since last year when RHQ was talking about it on vlogs and played a lot of snippets. I miss you so much Quan , if there’s heaven, I pray you find your way going there #forevergoingin GIF,” said another.

“His team gone make sure his family continues to eat!!” A fan cited.

Many also couldn’t believe the rapper was really gone, feeling like the whole ordeal was “surreal.”

“smh this shit so surreal .. #LongLiveRHQ,” a user remarked.

“Ain’t no way this his last album/mixtape .. Rich Homie Quan promised us he would never stop going in,” said another.

“Finally dropping this but it ain’t him dropping the album Damn Quan,” a fan reflects.

“Now I’m sad cause he should still be here,” another stated.

There were also a few who considered Forever Going In’s release as “disrespectful” to Quan’s legacy, with individuals alleging that the late rapper’s record label dropped a posthumous album in an attempt to profit off RHQ’s passing.

Rich Homie Quan was signed to T.I.G. Entertainment and Motown Records for most of his career but stepped away to become an independent artist and incorporate his label “Rich Homie Entertainment” in 2022.

“Nah he .. his record label already started milking on his demise,” an individual stated.

“This is disrespectful as f**k. Y’all never let the dead rest in this world,” a critic claimed.

What was the cause of Rich Homie Quan’s passing?

Rich Homie Quan, whose real name was Dequantes Devontay Lamar, passed away on September 5, 2024. The death was ruled as an accidental overdose, with the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirming a mix of fentanyl, alprazolam, codeine, promethazine, and THC was found in his system.

On the day of his passing, Rich Homie Quan’s brother found the rapper “passed out” on the kitchen floor at 3 am with food in his mouth. He was then moved to the living room couch, and it wasn’t until 11 in the morning that his girlfriend, Amber Williams, would alert the authorities.

Upon inspection, Rich Homie Quan was not breathing, and his body was reportedly “cold and unresponsive.” According to the incident report, Williams informed the officers on-scene that she found Quan on the couch early in the morning but assumed he was “just sleeping.”

Police officers confirmed that there was no evidence of any “foul play,” citing that Rich Homie Quan did not appear to be alert or conscious at the time of their arrival. Amber also reportedly informed officers that Quan was not suffering from any “medical or underlying illnesses.”

During an interview with WBS-Atlanta, Quan’s father, Corey Lamar, spoke on his son’s passing and the several plans RHQ had for his future and career. Lamar also hinted at the existence of Forever Going In when he confirmed that Rich had prepared an album consisting of 20-25 full-length records.

“Quan had probably over 2,000 unreleased songs. But once he gets in a mode to record, those songs become old to him. And when they become old he wants to focus on the new stuff. He has a catalog in the vault. He has a ton of music that the fans need to hear.” Corey Lamar stated.

Quan was laid to rest on September 17, 2024, with the City Council of Atlanta announcing the day of his funeral to be celebrated as “Rich Homie Quan Memorial Day.”

The funeral was also made open to the public, with Corey Lamar citing that it would be a “disservice” not to allow the late rapper’s fans to attend his burial and pay their respects during his appearance on the Kollege Kid Podcast.
