Prince William’s reign as King could be at risk if a reconciliation with his brother Prince Harry has not been achieved, according to a royal commentator

A royal commentator has suggested Prince William’s future reign as monarch could be compromised by the current rift with his brother, Prince Harry. During an appearance on The Royal Beat, Afua Adom reflected on the frosty relationship between the royal siblings, expressing bewilderment over how not even King Charles III’s battle with cancer helped thaw the ice between them.

She explained: “If Charles having cancer hasn’t brought them all together at this point, I honestly don’t know what will. However, I would like to think that all is not lost.”

Afua further speculated on the prospects of Prince William’s monarchy, adding: “I don’t think we can have a reign of King William with this fractured relationship still in place. I think that there will have to be some sort of reconciliation before then. It’s worrying that it is taking this long.”

As to whether there’s any chance for a resolution within the family, Newsweek’s Chief Royal Correspondent Jack Royston weighed in with cautious optimism: “I would not rule it out, I think it would be in everybody’s best interests which is why I don’t want to rule it out.”

The conversation on The Royal Beat, which featured host Kate Thornton and NBC’s Royal Commentator Daisy McAndrew, also delved into what implications the cancer diagnoses of the monarch and Princess Kate may have on the institution.

The potential influence of recent royal health concerns on Prince Harry’s decision not to add more content to his upcoming paperback edition of ‘Spare’ was discussed by Daisy, who surmised: “I think it could have done I certainly think that will have made him think twice and will have contributed to this decision not put in the 400 extra pages that he cut back last time.”

She added: “I think the fact that people now have so much sympathy for Catherine and for Charles with their cancers that I think even Harry could read the room and see that it would be extremely unwise, unkind and unforgivable in most people’s eyes if he went further now.”

Afua also weighed in, pointing out the initial reaction to ‘Spare’, saying: “If you look at the reaction to Spare when it came out and the reaction to it the positive and negative, how the tabloids went for him after Spare came out.

“If you can imagine that in this context with the background of the King having cancer, Kate having had preventative chemotherapy this year, it was a no-go.”
