Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has ‘been able to speak briefly to family members and his children via phone’ as he awaits trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has managed to have a ‘brief’ conversation with his seven children while awaiting trial at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center in New York City.

The 54-year-old music mogul was apprehended by Homeland Security Investigations agents on 16 September and indicted the following day on serious offenses, including sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation for prostitution, before being taken to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. He has pleaded not guilty but has been denied bail twice.

The rapper has reportedly been able to make short phone calls to his family and children since being in jail. Diddy is the father of seven children from four different women. His children include sons Quincy, 33, Justin, 30, and Christian, 26, and twin daughters Chance, 18, Jessie, and D’Lila, 17, and Love, 23 months.

While behind bars, Diddy is reportedly worried sick about his seven children. Speaking to People, a source claimed that the rapper has been making phone calls home to his children to check in on them. The source said: “He is very concerned about his kids and their well-being.

“He has three minor children, two of whom now have no living parent available with him incarcerated. Four of his seven children have neither parent available with him incarcerated.” The source went on to add that Diddy’s children are all in a state of ‘crisis and shock’ following his arrest. “It’s heartbreaking to see the children in the state they’re in. This is their father. But to them, he’s not Diddy — he’s Dad. He has always been a loving, devoted father.”

Diddy welcomed kids Christian, Jessie and D’Lila with late model and actress Kim Porter, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 47. Meanwhile, Quincy was Porter’s son with Al B. Sure!, and Combs later adopted him. He then had son Justin with stylist Misa Hylton, and Chance with businesswoman Sarah Chapman. In December 2022, Diddy celebrated the birth of his youngest child, daughter Love, with model Dana Tran.

It comes as Diddy is reportedly getting no special privileges as he faces charges while incarcerated in one of the USA’s most infamous prisons. A source disclosed to the magazine how Diddy is being treated, saying: “He is being treated like any other detainee awaiting trial.” They also mentioned that the star was “placed on suicide watch upon admittance to the facility as a precaution” as per protocol for high-profile inmates.

Attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny R Geragos, representing Combs, described the Brooklyn prison as “not fit for pre-trial detention” in a rejected bail proposal and condemned its conditions as “horrific”.

Prosecutors have charged the rapper with organizing illicit “freak off” gatherings, which allegedly involved sexual acts with prostitutes and women who were purportedly pressured into participating.

Federal agents swooped on Combs’ pads in Miami and Los Angeles back in March, with the charges he’s now facing following a spate of lawsuits lobbed at him over the past year, all alleging sexual misconduct. Combs has firmly denied all allegations, entering a not guilty plea to every charge and is set to make his next court appearance in early October.

His legal team conveyed to People that he remains “strong, healthy, and focused on his defence”. They further stated: “He is committed to fighting this case and has full confidence in both his legal team and the truth.”
