White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s husband, Nicholas Riccio, used to live on the streets – but now his net worth is in the millions.
Leavitt has previously stated that her husband is very secretive and dislikes social media. However, Riccio is somewhat of a local legend in New Hampshire, where he has amassed a multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio—fulfilling a childhood aspiration in the process—despite not being a star in his own right. According to Distractify, Riccio, who has a net worth of $6 million, did not achieve this easily, despite enjoying a luxurious lifestyle today.
The 59-year-old’s parents, Anthony and Marilyn, divorced when he was very young and raised him in New Hampshire. After their separation, Riccio bounced between homes until he turned 18 and found himself living on the streets.

“When I was 19 or 20, I would call my buddies to go over [to] their houses to watch a game just so I could take a shower,” he previously told The Portsmouth Herald.
Riccio borrowed money and stocked shelves at a grocery store to pay for his education, finally earning a degree from Plymouth State University. That moment ignited his interest in real estate.
After enrolling in a real estate course in 1990, the businessman, who frequently chose to sleep in his car when he could not pay his rent, fell in love with the building industry. When he saw how many properties in the neighborhood needed a serious makeover, he focused on Hampton Beach in New Hampshire.

In 2005, he mentioned to the Sunday Herald that while he and his mother were driving around Hampton Beach, they came across M Street, a long stretch of buildings that had deteriorated so significantly over the years that several of them had been torn down.
Early on, Riccio realized that he wanted to leave the street as his legacy, but due to his limited finances, he needed to start small. By stretching his budget, he managed to gather enough money to buy just one of the buildings. And so, his real estate portfolio came to life.
Property records indicate that his company’s LLC is presently registered at 10 residences, nine of which are located in New Hampshire and one in West Virginia.

All of the houses were built in the late 20th century, and Riccio spent between $5,500 and $400,000 on them. His property in New Hampshire made news in 2023 when it caught fire. The property reportedly suffered severe fire and water damage, yet the source of the fire was never determined.
Riccio’s company website, Nautical Beach Properties, encourages visitors to “enjoy” the sunshine and beautiful sea in the area.
