A Dallas rap feud has taken a dark turn after a local rapper was charged with capital murder in the 2020 killing of rival artist Melvin A. Noble, also known as rapper Mo3.

Police arrested Dallas rapper Yella Beezy (real name Deandre Conway) on Thursday and charged him, according to court records. The charges accuse the rapper of hiring an individual named Kewon White to murder Mo3 in November 2020. According to the court statement, Yella Beezy reportedly exchanged money or promised to compensate White for carrying out the hit.

On Nov 11, 2020, Noble was shot while he was traveling northbound on Interstate 35E, just south of the Dallas Zoo. Authorities said the suspect escaped in a black Chevy Camaro. Noble was transported from the scene to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Kewon Dontrell White and Devin Maurice Brown, Jr., who were arrested in the weeks following the murder of Noble, are also facing federal charges in connection with his death. White is in federal imprisonment, serving a nine-year term for firearms crimes related to the Mo3 shooting. Brown is being detained at the Dallas County Jail.

Mo3’s death was widely considered to be the consequence of a rap dispute between himself and Yella Beezy, but details remained unknown until recently. Suspects in custody have presumably revealed more details allowing for the arrest.

In October 2018, Yella Beezy was shot three times on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville. WFAA reported that police said that the shooter fired over a dozen rounds at his car, striking Yella Beezy three times. He was hospitalized for one day and then released.

Mo3 previously referenced the tollway shooting in his songs prior to his killing in 2020. In his 2019 song “2 Nineteen”, Mo3 rapped, “You heard about that rapper that got shot on the tollway.” Mo3 also rapped about a price being put on his head in his single “Out The Gym.”

Yella Beezy had also been arrested on multiple occasions since 2021. Dallas police detained him in February on weapons charges, followed by another arrest in August on gun and drug possession allegations.

In November 2021, Plano police arrested him on an outstanding warrant for sexual assault. He was also detained on counts of child endangerment and unauthorized firearm possession, according to Plano police. Four men also filed a lawsuit against Yella Beezy and R&B singer Chris Brown, as well as a few others, alleging that they were physically beaten and hospitalized by the artists during a concert in North Texas.

Following the arrest, Noble’s mother Nichole Williams Noble took to social media, calling the charges filed “justice.”

The update in Noble’s murder case comes on the heels of another DFW area rapper being fatally shot. G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter R’Mai were killed in a drive-by shooting at a car wash on March 4 of this year. Police said the victims were parked at the car wash when two suspects in a white four-door Kia arrived and opened fire before fleeing.
