As Snoop strode on stage in a sharp black suit and black fur over his shoulders, joined by his wife, Shante Broadus, viewers promptly spotted something all too familiar about his outfit choice. Deja vu struck as Snoop handed his fur coat to Shante before stepping up to the mic. Fans were quick to point out that Snoop’s fur had made an appearance at another major event, stirring up some controversy for the rap icon.

A post by Bo Loudon on X, a conservative media personality, from just before this year’s presidential inauguration became fodder for online commenters.

It showcased a beaming Snoop next to Bo, sporting a similar black suit and identical fur to what he donned at the BET Awards. An outraged user reshared Bo’s tweet, slamming Snoop for recycling his MAGA event look for his BET moment.

Meanwhile, numerous critics echoed the sentiment: Snoop’s 2025 inauguration performance should not fade from memory.

Some viewers took to social media to express their disappointment with Snoop Dogg being honored at the BET Awards, given his past performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

“Watching Snoop accept this award after shuckin and jivin for agent orange #BETAwards,” one X user wrote, while another chimed in, “We not celebrating Snoop, not after that foolishness he pulled with Trump #BETAwards.”

Others questioned whether anyone at the awards show would acknowledge Snoop’s past association with Trump. However, one fan came to Snoop’s defense, pointing out that he had already addressed the controversy through his music, releasing a project last month that aimed to answer critics and provide context for his actions.

Snoop had previously explained his decision to perform at the inauguration, saying, “I felt like there was a lot of unanswered questions over the past six months and I just wanted to answer them through my music,” during an album preview event in New York City, according to USA Today.
