Thousands have people have lost their homes in Los Angeles after unrelenting wildfire tore through the state of California in devastating scenes

Simon Cowell has sent a message of support to the victims of the ferocious wildfires in Los Angeles.

Thousands of people have lost their homes in California following days of unrelenting flames, which have been ravaging through the state since Tuesday.

Residents have been encouraged to evacuate their homes and strict water saving rules have been imposed as a result of the blaze, which has so far claimed 16 lives while destroying more than 37,000 acres of land.

Taking to Instagram with a video message over the weekend, media mogul Simon, 65 – who owns property in Malibu, one of the affected areas – reached out to those suffering in the crisis.

He said: “Los Angeles has been my second home for the past twenty five years. I am devastated by what I’ve seen and read. What is happening right now is horrific.

“Like many other people I want to do something to help. I have done some research and I will be donating to @redcrossla. I have added their link in my bio for further information on ways to support. I am sending my thoughts, love and prayers to everyone affected. Love, Simon x.”

The devastating wildfires have ripped through a large number of celebrity homes in Los Angeles, including Anthony Hopkins’ and Paris Hilton’s.

Mass evacuations have seen thousands of people forced to leave their homes behind in recent days, and over a 1000 buildings and structures have been totally destroyed – with a number of people reported to have tragically lost their lives already, in fires Paris said looked like “hell” on earth.

Amid the carnage, fury against ‘entitled’ celebrities grew last night as stars including Kim Kardashian were accused of wasting precious water resources that could have been used to save homes.

Strict water-conserving measures have been in place since 2022, with ‘ordinary’ residents restricted to watering their gardens twice a week for eight minutes at a time.

Kim, who lives in a $60 million house in The Oaks – a swanky, gated community near the heart of one of this week’s fires – was fined by city authorities that year for using 232,000 gallons of water more than her allocation.

Last night a neighbour of the SKIMS star – who is now understood to have introduced water saving measures – told the Mail on Sunday: “These celebrities have a sense of entitlement. Everyone was told to cut back on water precisely for this situation, to preserve it to fight fires. They carried on watering because they could afford the fines.”

Anger is also growing over the wealthy hiring private firefighters for $2,000 an hour to protect their properties. Chris Dunn, owner of Covered 6, which provides the service to Hollywood’s elite, told the publication: “My phone has been ringing off the hook. Demand has never been higher.”
