The America’s Got Talent: The Champions judge owes Susan an apology.
Susan Boyle immediately became a household name following her stunning audition performance of “I Dreamed a Dream” on season 3 of Britain’s Got Talent. And last night, during the America’s Got Talent: The Champions finals, she cemented that status — with a performance of the very same song.

“I have goosebumps on my goosebumps,” he began. “That really, really took me back, all those years. I can remember vividly how disgusting I was on the day, before you sang — and then what you did, and what happened afterwards.”

Simon was referring, of course, to the first time he saw Susan perform “I Dreamed a Dream,” back in 2009 at her Britain’s Got Talent audition. Susan blew everyone away with her talent that day, but before she began to sing, the audience and judges alike were skeptical. As one of the three judges, Simon made faces when Susan revealed her age (47 at the time) and showed off her dance moves, and cynically asked her about her goals as a singer.
Thankfully, much has changed since then — including Simon’s relationship with Susan. And last night, after acknowledging his unacceptable behavior toward her all those years ago, the AGT judge told Susan: “I mean seriously, [your performance] was fantastic. You’re a champion.”
Clearly Susan, who was the runner-up on her season of Britain’s Got Talent, is a judge favorite this time around. But whether she’ll go all the way in this competition remains to be seen: Tune in to NBC the America’s Got Talent: The Champions finale next Monday, Feb. 18 at 8 p.m. to find out.
