Liam tragically passed away on Wednesday evening due to injuries sustained from falling off a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Cheryl Tweedy left fans in tears on Friday when she shared a never-before-seen photo of Liam Payne with their son Bear, opening up about the tragedy for the first time. The black and white snapshot captured a tender moment with Liam gazing lovingly at Bear, hand outstretched towards him.
Despite Cheryl and Liam’s rocky relationship, which ended shortly after Bear’s first birthday, it was clear that Liam always kept his son close to his heart, even through tough times. In a heartfelt statement last night, Cheryl expressed her sorrow for their son who now faces a future without his father.
Liam tragically passed away on Wednesday evening due to injuries sustained from falling off a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Fans worldwide were stunned by the loss of the Wolverhampton-born singer, whose journey they followed from his initial X Factor audition to his rise to fame with One Direction.
By the age of 23, when he became a father, Liam had already built a considerable fortune, estimated at $60 million. In a poignant interview in 2022, Liam spoke about how his wealth was dedicated to Bear, saying: “My life now is his, my money is his. I have actually got several companies that are up and running that I know he can run one day if he wants to or [he can sell them].”

Liam Payne had previously contributed to the purchase of a $4 million home for Cheryl and their son in the quaint Buckinghamshire village of Chalfont St Peter. Following his split from Cheryl, Liam bought another property close by, reports the Mirror.
Speaking about co-parenting with Cheryl, he praised her as “the best mom in the world” and expressed gratitude for her allowing him “full autonomy” to focus on his career and later address his mental health struggles while she took care of Bear. In July of the previous year, Liam disclosed that he had completed a 100-day stint in a Louisiana rehab facility after reaching “rock bottom,” and he credited Cheryl for her support during this time.
“More than anything, I want to say thank you to [Bear] and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well in that moment because I had to,” he confessed. Discussing how frequently he sees his son in 2022, Liam revealed: “I see him two times a week, three times a week sometimes. And I make sure when I see him, he has 100 percent of my time. I make sure that I’m not on my phone or d—–g around somewhere else.”

He added, “So, I like to give him those moments and it’s important, he needs that in his life. He needs his dad in his life, and I’m happy he looks at me like a superhero, and I’m hoping to keep it that way.”
Girls Aloud star Cheryl also expressed her sorrow as she commented for the first time since Liam’s passing on Friday.
Cheryl and Liam had been in a well-known relationship from 2016 to 2018. “As I try to navigate this earth shattering event, and work through my own grief at this indescribably painful time, I’d like to kindly remind everyone that we have lost a human being,” she penned in an emotional Instagram post. “Liam was not only a pop star and celebrity, he was a son, a brother, an uncle, a dear friend and a father to our 7 year old son. A son that now has to face the reality of never seeing his father again.”
The 41 year old finished her heartfelt message by pleading for people to allow Payne “the little dignity he has left in the wake of his death to rest in some peace at last.”
