Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s hometown of Montecito has been riddled with reports of burglaries and kidnapping.

Panic has hit Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s hometown after a string of burglaries and a kidnapping have been reported in Montecito this month.

The couple, who have lived together in the US since 2020, currently reside in a multi-million-pound home in Montecito with their two children – Prince Archie, five, and three-year-old Princess Lilibet.

According to the Montecito Journal, a resident in Montecito reported that her father’s home “had been ransacked” in early November. The wesite reports that items were stolen, including “a few thousand dollars in cash and heirloom jewellery”.

As well as the reported burglary, the website states that deputies had conducted “proactive traffic enforcement” after reports of a kidnapping incident. This incident is said to have taken place in the “area of southbound Highway 101 near Olive Mill”.

The couple, who have been married since 2018, are said to have “isolated themselves” in their posh Californian neighbourhood – home to a number of A-list celebrities.

According to some of their neighbours – who have been interviewed for a new documentary which is set to air in Germany next week – Meghan and Harry are barely seen in the town.

One of their neighbours, author Richard Mineards has shared that the couple do not appear to get up to much in Montecito.

Speaking to journalist and filmmaker Ulrike Grunewald about Meghan, Richard said: “Sometimes you will see her at the farmers’ market or with a dog, but generally, you don’t see her, and you just don’t see much of him. It’s a shame. This is a lovely place.”

Discussing Meghan and Harry with the Daily Mail, Ulrike said: “On average, the millionaires and billionaires who move here pay eight to nine million euros for a house. The cultural life is very lively, but everything often takes place in closed circles and Harry and Meghan rarely take part in these activities.”

She added: “They seem to have isolated themselves a lot.”

The 45-minute film, which is said to have taken more than a year to film, will air on the on Germany’s ZDF network at 8.15pm on Tuesday, December 3.

Much to the disappointment of UK fans, the film will only be available in Germany and will not air in the United Kingdom.
