Prince Harry once revealed his final phone conversation with Princess Diana is something he will regret “for the rest of my life.”

The Duke of Sussex and Prince William opened up about their last calls in a 2017 documentary titled ‘Diana, Our Mother: Her Life and Legacy.’

They were just 15 and 12 when she died – and were at the Royal Family’s Balmoral estate in Scotland when they received what turned out to be the final call from her.

And the young royals hurriedly ended the phone call at that time.

William was the first to speak in the ITV documentary, sharing his last memories of his mother.

He recalled: “The very last memory that I have is a phone call [at] Balmoral.

“At the time Harry and I were running around minding our own business, playing with our cousins and having a very good time.

“I think Harry and I were just in a desperate rush to say goodbye.

“You know, see you later and we’re going to go off.

The Prince of Wales added: “If I’d known now obviously what was going to happen, I wouldn’t have been so blase about it.

“That phone call sticks in my mind quite heavily.”

When asked if he remembered specific details about the phone call, William responded: “I do.”

However, the Duke declined to share any further information. Harry also discussed the phone call, recalling William telling him, “Harry, Harry, mummy’s on the phone.”

He continued: “Right my turn, off I go, you know, pick up the phone.

“It was her speaking from Paris. I can’t really necessarily remember what I said, but all I do remember is regretting for the rest of my life how short the phone call was.”

He agreed with his brother that he would have handled the call differently given the chance, adding: “If I’d known that that was the last time … the things I would have said to her.”
