The pair apparently put on a happy facade for the sake of fans during their lavish trip
Liam Payne had enjoyed a holiday to Greece with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy in the months leading up to his death but sources claim it was very different to how they portrayed it
Liam Payne’s final holiday to Greece with girlfriend Kate Cassidy was very different to how it was perceived, claims sources.
The late One Direction star tragically fell to his death, aged 31, from the balcony of his third floor hotel room in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on October 16. He died after suffering multiple traumas leading to an “internal and external haemorrhage”. In the months prior to his tragic death, the late musician enjoyed a holiday to Greece with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy.
While the pair had documented their travels on social media appearing to have the time of their lives, sources claim that this was far from reality for American-born Kate. It’s claimed that the former waitress felt isolated while on the holiday due to Liam’s alleged drug usage.
In the past, Payne had been open about his issues with drugs and alcohol and had previously received treatment for his struggles. But just weeks before his death, Liam had been off drugs, despite allegedly using them in Greece during their summer getaway. A source has since claimed that Liam had left Kate “in tears” due to his alleged actions.

“Kate would ring me in tears,” a source close to her told the MailOnline. They went on to claim: “She was stuck in a foreign country and Liam was completely off the rails. They put out smiling images on Instagram for the fans, but the reality couldn’t have been more different.”
But after returning to Florida, where they rented a home in September, it was said that Liam was off drugs and was sober once again. Liam’s so-called friend Roger Nores is said to have emailed Liam’s management team in the same month to say that he had seen Liam on several occasions and his understanding was that he “hasn’t touched a single hard drug since he came back to the US.”
This, however, sadly changed during Liam’s trip to Buenos Aires, Argentina, the next month. He and Kate flew to the Latin American country so he could renew his American visa – they also attended Niall Horan’s concert at the Movistar Arena as Liam offered his support to his former bandmate.
Liam had been sober on the trip until just hours before his death. Liam allegedly drank alcohol and consumed illegal drugs in the hours leading up to his tragic death. Since then, two hotel workers have been charged by Argentinian prosecutors in relation to his death. Esteban Grassi, chief receptionist and Gilda Martin, hotel manager, will be put on trial alongside Roger Nores, who is accused of abandoning the late musician.
They are facing between one and five years in prison if convicted as charged although they have been told they could be eligible for suspended jail sentences. The other two suspects, 24-year-old waiter Braian Nahuel Paiz and 21-year-old suspended hotel worker Ezequiel David Pereyra, have both been charged with selling Liam cocaine and warned they could face prison sentences of between four and 15 years if convicted.
