Karoline Leavitt has proclaimed that she believes there are “evil forces” working against U.S. President Donald Trump in “spiritual warfare.” The White House press secretary made the claim during an interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network, which comes after it emerged Trump is cutting down a historic White House tree and there are fears it’s for a sinister reason.
“I certainly believe in spiritual warfare,” Leavitt, 27, told the network in the interview that aired on Friday. “And I think I saw it firsthand, especially throughout the campaign trail with President Trump.”
Leavitt, whose nickname’s true meaning has been revealed, goes on to say that there are “certainly evil forces and I think the president was saved by the grace of god on July 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania.” She adds, “He’s in this moment for a reason.”

Shortly after the interview, Leavitt’s unshakeable faith in Trump was put to the test when she was forced to answer a reporter’s question about the president’s looming “Liberation Day” tariffs. During her weekly press briefing with the media, Leavitt was forced to confront “legitimate concerns” about the president’s tariffs.
The hard-hitting question was asked by Fox News reporter Peter Doocy who asked Leavitt to address concerns of retired Americans who are concerned over the “wild swings in the stock market because of the tariff uncertainty.”

“Certainly, they are legitimate concerns,” Leavitt said, adding, “The President takes those concerns very seriously. He is addressing them every single day.”
Leavitt said that the April 2nd announcement “is to protect future generations of the senior citizens … for their kids, for their grandkids.” According to Leavitt, the announcement will help create jobs and help future generations “live the American dream.”

“Wednesday, it will be Liberation Day in America, as President Trump has so proudly dubbed it,” Leavitt had said at a previous conference, adding, “The president will be announcing a tariff plan that will roll back the unfair trade practices that have been ripping off our country for decades. He’s doing this in the best interest of the American worker.”
Leavitt has previously cautioned that the country “will cease to exist” if they continue down the path of bankruptcy, adding that Trump’s “entire cabinet is trying to save democracy.”

While Trump’s plan was not entirely divulged by Leavitt, it was hinted that the president could also unveil reciprocal tariffs to match tariffs imposed by other countries, dollar for dollar. In response to the impending tariffs, the European Union issued a chilling warning to Trump.
“Europe has not started this confrontation,” Ursula von der Leyen, the head of the European Union’s executive, said in a speech.”We do not necessarily want to retaliate, but if it is necessary, we have a strong plan to retaliate, and we will use it.”

“We will approach these negotiations from a position of strength. Europe holds a lot of cards, from trade to technology to the size of our market,” she continued. “But this strength is also built on our readiness to take firm countermeasures if necessary. All instruments are on the table.”
While Von der Leyen did not elaborate on how the EU might respond, the bloc had responded to Trump’s steel and aluminum tariffs in March by announcing countertariffs worth $28 billion on American goods, namely boats, bourbon, motorbikes, and more.
