Kamala Harris slammed Elon Musk as she broke her silence after the Democratic-backed candidate for Wisconsin Supreme Court defeated a challenger endorsed by the Tesla CEO and President Donald Trump.
Susan Crawford, a Dane County judge who led legal fights to protect union power and abortion rights and to oppose voter ID, secured a 10-year term on the court, defeating Waukesha County Judge Brad Schimel. Celebrating her win surrounded by the court’s four current liberal justices, Crawford took a brutal dig at Musk, who spent millions of dollars backing Schimel.
“Growing up in Chippewa Falls, I never could have imagined that I would be taking on the richest man in the world for justice in Wisconsin,” Crawford said. “And we won.” Speaking to Wisconsin Democrats after the victory, Harris echoed Crawford’s sentiments, saying: “There is an unelected billionaire who should not and will not have a greater voice than the working people of Wisconsin.”
Sharing clips of her remarks to X, Harris wrote: “Judge Susan Crawford’s victory is a victory for working people in Wisconsin. She will take her seat on the bench and continue to uphold the rights and protect the freedoms of all people in her state.
“Last night, I joined the @WisDems team to thank them for their hard work in this election. Together, with leaders all across our nation, we will continue to push for progress.” She continued in the clips: Hi Wisconsin to all of you, I just wanted to pop by to say thank you.
“You all are just extraordinary, you love our country, you care. You are making such extraordinary sacrifices on behalf of so many people, on behalf of communities, on behalf of people you may never meet, and I just say thank you.

“You all are working on behalf of an individual, a candidate in Judge Crawford, who will always fight to protect your freedoms and your rights, including your right to organize and advocate for fair wages and working conditions that are safe, and who will protect your right to make decisions about your own body without government interference.
“It is at the ballot box – not only at the national level, but at the state level and local level – where we can and we will push for progress, and we will protect our freedoms and rights.” Musk and groups he backed forked out more than $21million in an effort to defeat Crawford.

Two days before the election, Musk even traveled to Wisconsin to personally hand over $1 million checks to two voters. The race broke records for spending and was the highest-turnout Wisconsin Supreme Court election ever as it became a proxy fight for the nation’s political battles.
“Today Wisconsinites fended off an unprecedented attack on our democracy, our fair elections and our Supreme Court,” Crawford said in her victory speech. “And Wisconsin stood up and said loudly that justice does not have a price, our courts are not for sale.”
Following the defeat, Musk posted on X: “The long con of the left is corruption of the judiciary.” In another post, Musk highlighted that voters approved an amendment requiring photo ID to vote as he claimed “This was the most important thing.”
