Everyone has heroes growing up, whether it’s a famous musician, a historical figure, or a sports star. This weekend, country music sensation Jelly Roll got the chance to perform alongside one of his heroes in a moment he called a “childhood dream.”
During his concert in Detroit over the weekend, Jelly Roll brought out a special guest as he welcomed legendary rapper and Detroit native Eminem to the stage for a special performance of the rapper’s hit song “Lose Yourself.”
Jelly Roll started the song by performing the first verse himself, leading many in attendance to believe it was simply a tribute performance, given that the show was in Detroit. But for the second verse, Eminem joined Jelly Roll on stage and they performed together.
“Detroit, what up?! Make some noise for Jelly Roll!” Eminem shouted at the end of the song. “Long time, no see. I love y’all. Peace!”

After Eminem left the stage, Jelly Roll made it clear that the performance was a special moment for him, calling it “the greatest show” of his life.
“If you can’t tell, that was a childhood dream come [freaking] true, Detroit,” Jelly Roll told the crowd. “This is the greatest show I’ve ever had in my [freaking] life.”
The country music superstar added that Eminem’s music “helped me through the darkest moments of my life.”
This was not the first collaboration between Eminem and Jelly Roll as they previously performed together at the “Sing For the Moment” event last June in Detroit, accompanied by the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
Jelly Roll also appeared on “Somebody Save Me,” the closing track from Eminem’s 2024 album The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce). But clearly, this performance was an extra special moment for Jelly Roll.
