Jack Osbourne gave an insight into the changes in The Osbourne household just weeks before his dad Ozzy died at the age of 76 following a battle with Parkinson’s disease

Jack Osbourne made a heart-wrenching realisation just weeks before his dad Ozzy’s death last month after watching back the family’s hit reality show The Osbournes

The Black Sabbath frontman died on July 22 at the age of 76 after a battle with Parkinson’s disease. It came just 17 days after Sabbath’s farewell Back to the Beginning gig at Villa Park.

Speaking on the Disrespectfully with Katie Maloney & Dayna Kathan podcast, Jack said he realised “there just isn’t as much laughter” as there used to be when he watched the Osbournes back.

He said: “When we watch back the show, something that really stood out to us all was how much we would all laugh.

“There was this carefree environment that as you get older, you get kids, you’re dealing with health issues, there just isn’t as much laughter around the house as there used to be.

“That was the thing that really stuck. It really was fun and funny.”

The Osbourne pulled back the curtains on the lives of Ozzy, his wife Sharon and two of their children, Jack and Kelly. Ozzy and Sharon had another child, Aimee, who opted not to appear on The Osbournes.

It ran for four series and the first series was cited as the most-viewed series on MTV.

Jack explained why the show was so successful as up to that point celebrities had kept the public and mainstream media out and only showed them what they “thought was cool”.

He told the podcast: “You had to have this air of mystery. When you ripped that barrier down with the Osbournes and people got to see what it’s like in the house of someone they perceive to be this larger than life musician. People instantly related.

“Like ‘oh, this person’s still just a family guy. His kids are doing the same s*** my kids are doing.

“The cameras were there six days a week from 9am to 3am.”

Jack was present at Villa Park for Black Sabbath’s final concert. The day before the gig, the metal star’s son said his dad still intended to make music.

Ultimately he died less than three weeks after the show. Jack, 39, hosted a Q&A in Birmingham to talk about the Nine Lives of Ozzy Osbourne, a documentary film that had its world premiere the day before the gig.

He said: “I think this is his last actual full performance live. He does still intend to make music and release albums so, I think that’s where he’s going to have to slow down to.”

Jack is among the celebrities competing in Cooking with the Stars, hosted by Emma Willis tonight (Sunday, August 17) from 7pm to 8pm on ITV.

He will joined by former England footballer Shaun Wright-Phillips, actor Hugh Dennis, former EastEnders actress Natalie Cassidy, radio presenter Jordan North and ex-Dragons’ Den star Kelly Hoppen.
