Meghan Markle and Princess Kate may not be as close anymore but moves are said to have been made behind the scenes, according to sources.

Meghan Markle might have already made a move to reconcile with her estranged sister-in-law, the Princess of Wales, sources have claimed.

The two women have seen their relationship decline over the years after a major incident before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding, as well as their explosive claims in interviews and Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare.

The first reports of a rift between the Duchess of Sussex and the future Queen emerged in 2019, with some claiming that Meghan made Princess Kate cry before her wedding to Prince Harry the year before. But two years later the claim was disputed by the duchess who said it was the other way around.

Meghan said during her infamous Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021: “The narrative with Kate—which didn’t happen—was really, really difficult and…I think that’s when everything changed, really.”

She added: “I don’t say that to be disparaging to anyone, because it was a really hard week of the wedding and she was upset about something, but she owned it, and she apologised.”

The duchess also said of her sister-in-law: “If you love me, you don’t have to hate her. And if you love her, you don’t need to hate me.”

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have never commented on Harry and Meghan’s claims.

But earlier this year, after King Charles’s cancer diagnosis was announced and weeks before the Princess of Wales announced her own shocking cancer diagnosis, sources claimed that the Duchess of Sussex made a move to reconcile with the future Queen.

They told Us Weekly back in February: “Meghan has contacted Kate and Charles. So moves are being made to reconcile

Another source said: “Meghan is supportive of Harry in all of this, and she wishes the royals — Kate included — the very best.”

The claims came not long after Kate was hospitalised for major abdominal surgery in London back in January. Post-op tests then revealed cancer had been found, which prompted the princess to go through preventative chemotherapy and stay off the spotlight for the majority of the year.

But earlier this week the future Queen appeared in a new emotional video and announced she will be returning to public duties following the completion of her treatment.

Kate said that she is now focusing on doing what she can to stay cancer-free, with a “renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life”.
